Sassella is a gem in Santa Fe, bringing the authentic flavors of Italy’s Valtelline Valley right to your table. The restaurant, named after a small village in Northern Italy known for its rugged vineyards, reflects the robust and enduring spirit of its namesake. Chef Christian Pontiggia, originally from this region, masterfully blends tradition with innovation, drawing on his experience from Michelin-starred restaurants.
Our dining experience was nothing short of excellent. The food was superb, and the service was top-notch. The staff’s coordination was impressive—they cleared the table, brought out food, and refilled water with precision.
We savored the lobster soup, a custom vegan/gluten-free dish created by the chef, and the Mushroom Carbonara. Each dish was a testament to the chef’s dedication to authenticity and flavor.
The atmosphere at Sassella is cozy, and sitting outside made our meal even more enjoyable, thanks to the perfect weather and charming ambiance.
I highly recommend Sassella for its outstanding service, delicious food, and the rich culinary history it brings to Santa Fe.

Your food is and your attention to detail is on point. Your staff is ALL super nice! It does not end there! The Cesar Salad is delicious and probably THE best I’ve ever had! I tell all my friends about it!
I would say that the natural lighting and all the accents inside your dining room are just as detailed as your beautiful food creations.
My eyes had a lot of fun looking at everything. It is hard for me to pick a favorite area. The bar is beautiful. I even like hanging out in the back of house.

Fantastic restaurant! Romantic patio seating. Beautiful setting with lovely ambiance. Have to admit, when we arrived with our hungry teenager we were thinking this was your basic Italian restaurant. We thought we’d have pizza, lasagna, the usual Italian dishes. We were a little taken aback to find a small menu of things we don’t generally order. We worried that we wouldn’t enjoy but we decided to take the plunge and ordered the dishes that we thought would be okay for us to eat. Boy were we HAPPILY surprised. The dishes were not just okay, they were fantastic. From the appetizer, to the entrees to the wine, everything was served course by course, no hurry no rush and everything was absolutely scrumptious. I’d also like to mention their wonderful staff. They all run like a well oiled machine. From the hostesses to the servers to the busboys, everyone moves with a beautiful precision. I can’t describe how not fancy people we are and yet how much we loved this beautiful fancy food. Beautiful, beautiful restaurant, lovely staff, AMAZING FOOD…. Great staff. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

A delicious restaurant in the heart of Santa Fe. The pear salad was excellent – the lobster risotto was excellent too (with a sizable amount of lobster). The dishes were all beautifully prepared!

The staff was incredibly attentive and they must have a very good sommelier because the wine pairing was excellent. Some of the plate were a little basic but that may just be because they have to cater to a variety of palettes. My highlight was the carpaccio.

Sasella is an esquisite italian restaurant in Santa Fe. The restaurant gave a welcoming vibe of elegance. We started with a Margarita & a Rose glass of wine. The eggplant appetizer was out of this world. The flavors and crunch gave the eggplant a tastefull pleasure to eat. We ordered the Rigatoni alla Bolognese and portobello and ricotta ravioli for dinner. The dish was elegantly presented and every dish was exceptional. The dishes came with fresh sliced permasian and had alot of flavor. Next time you visit Santa Fe try this amazing restaurant.

For being a small location, its quite comfortable and feels biger. The decorations are quite eye catching, even tho i ate outdoors. Service is 5/5 for sure. The staff is formal and very attentive. I tryed the special of the day which was some pasta with rattlesnake sausage. It sounded new so i gave it a shot. It was interesting. Something different for sure but not quite there. Mabie because from were I’m from, we eat rattlesnake differently. So to the special 3.5/5 The Lobster Risotto was amazing! 6/5 Ive had a few at different locations, and this one takes it! Looking forward to trying out more dishes from here. Overall experience 4.5/5

A standout among all the wonderful restaurants in Santa Fe. The lobster risotto, veal chop, and appetizers were all delicious and perfectly cooked. However, the true area of exception was the service and presentation. I loved the garnishes on all the different plates (and the drink flight!) and the servers were so knowledgeable and attentive. When we ordered, they talked us through how they would design our courses, and the chef split any plates we wanted to share. There are plenty of restaurants that have outstanding food but just fall short on service and you feel like the meal wasn’t worth the price. Sassella doesn’t fall into that trap, it is a true experience to dine there. Can’t wait to return soon.

We went there for a dessert and it was well balanced and tasty. The desert had a little sweet surprise with pop rocks. We also had a delicious glass of champagne. The service was awesome. We were happy to be greeted by the chef himself.

Expensive but good. The lobster is outstanding and so is the sea bass. The service was amazing. I really enjoyed it but just keep in mind that it was $50 for an entree but you are paying for the best quality in the world. Check came in fun box.
