A charming, off the beaten path restaurant. Sassafraz has a varied menu and, for everything that my table ordered, executed it all pretty well. The atmosphere is great, and the bakery is cute (you WILL buy strawberry butter before you leave).

The food is excellent. I had the pecan chicken. My son had the shrimp and grits. His girlfriend had the seafood pasta special. All three dishes were amazing. The restaurant decor is very nice and clean. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent place to eat a fine, delicious meal without Breaking the bank. Wife introduced me to this place approximately a year ago and we have been going back every 3rd weekend if not before. I have one favorite meal that I cannot get past and that is their 1 inch grilled pork chop that puts Patties 1800 settlement pork chop to shame. The atmosphere is also amazing, it is a touch of classiness with a down home atmosphere. I love Sassafraz and would recommend everyone to try it at least once.

20 minute wait and the dining room was almost empty. We showed up at 745 and we were seated at 810. I expected the ticket to be expensive, but the food was just average. I might be less critical, but given the expensive pricing, I expected a better dining experience. For the price, drive to Hubs in Hickman and get a great steak for the same price with a good atmosphere.

Little pricy, but food was worth it. Steak was cooked perfectly, waitress was so peppy and happy. Really added to the experience. Very relaxed environment, perfect for dinner date for 2 or a family meal. Will definitely be returning!

Nice restaurant. Delicious food. Only caution, if you have shellfish allergy, they use the same oil for frying shrimp and their chips. I usually ask before I order but did not today. Next time I’ll try the mashed potatoes.

This place used to be great but I don’t know what’s happened to it. Service was terrible. One in our party waited a good 20 minutes after the rest of us got our food before hers was served. Several got ribeyes. Ordered mine med-rare and it came med-well. Another ordered med and her’s was well done. It was like trying to eat shoe leather. Waitress came by once to refill our glasses and that is after we had asked for refills in one of the very few trips she made to the table. We wound up eating our ice for liquid to get the food down before the refills actually got there. We were having our Christmas dinner with only 6 individuals, so it was not a large party. Toward the end of the meal, I had to bus our own table, moving all our used plates to another unbused table, and wipe it down with my napkin so we’d even have room to order dessert; even though the waitress never asked, so we were never given the option of dessert. I normally don’t give bad reviews because I try to assume that we just hit it on an off night. Well, this is the 3rd time for this type of service with mediocre food which was way overpriced for what was actually served. I don’t blame the waitress for the food that comes out of the kitchen, but service is her responsibility. What she didn’t know I am a very generous tipper to the server, if heshe does well, regardless of the taste of the food. This server got the bare minimum or less on a $200 food bill. It was her loss. The only time she made regularly, scheduled trips to our table was after she brought the bill and was ready for me to pay, than every time I turned around she was standing right there. All the empty tables, right here the week before Christmas, should have been our clue. I’m done and won’t be back after this 3rd attempt to eat here, unless it comes under new management and retrained servers.. I do have to say, the floors were very clean.

Our waitress needed A LOT more training as you could tell she was new and not ready to be left with tables if her own. The food was ok at best but I had a great mixed drink. Will be waiting a while before trying again.

Catered our wedding and we had our rehearsal dinner here. The food and service was top notch! Thank you guys for doing such an amazing job! We will definitely be coming back to eat each time we visit.
