I got the regular chirashi sushi today labeled as prepared yesterday. The cuts of fish seemed and tasted fresh but the pieces were quite small, 2/3 to 1/2 the size I’m used to. I don’t like large pieces but these seemed quite small. Other than that, it’s a Japanese food store with imported goods, fresh fish cut to your preference and snacks. I’ll come back and try something else and hopefully it will live up to my expectations.

My sisters raved about this place, about how good the sashimi and sushi were. I’ve seen many posting about it but never got the chance to come by. Finally I was in the area and was excited to come here.

I was rather disappointed when I tried the food I bought. Everything was fishy, except for the uni, uni were surprisingly good. Fresh and creamy with a little hint of sweetness.

I ended up not eating most of it and just wasted my money. I spent $80 that day and I only like the Dango, and other frozen items which was imported.

Small little charming spot though.

The lady refilling the fridge was very cute and explained some items to me and even tell me how she like to eat them. Although the cashier wasn’t that friendly that day.

Perhaps I went on an off day. But sadly, I won’t be returning. Even though my sister said food was better during her last visit. I’m not sure it’s worth another try for me.

We walked past this and were very interested to check it out.

My mother who was visiting loved sashimi. Sashimiya is like a cute little corner shop that serves the neighbourhood, but they offered a good selection of sashimi. My mother chose octopus and it was very yummy for her. Reasonably priced as well!

They also provided other items such as snacks. Just wished they had more snacks, but understood that they had a limited space.

Would definitely come back if we are in the area again.

Popped by twice on my visit for takeout sushi and found it decent quality for the price! Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here as there are plenty of great spots in van, but if you’re nearby it’s a great no frills spot for quick takeaway. If you have more time, I think it may be freshest to order off their menu!

What a convenient spot for sushi and sashimi takeout! I hadn’t ordered ahead, but the shop had a nice variety of options ready in the refrigerator. The Hokkaido uni was fresh and absolutely amazing. However, the large sashimi lunch and seared scallop rolls were a bit underwhelming in comparison. I imagine ordering ahead for freshly prepared sashimi would make the experience much better.

Refreshing and high-quality authentic sushi and sashimi spot!
I pre-ordered a sushi party tray two working days in advance, and was extremely pleased by the quality of the seafood, construction of the sushi, and value for price and portion.
Staff are efficient and great at what they do.

Store also has many pantry items/ingredients for sale, and many pre-made options. High recommend!

For its value this is some REALLY amazing sushi. Operating as a japanese convience store Sashimiya is home to some of the best sushi i’ve had. The seafood tastes SUPER fresh and the flavours are amazing. Cannot get enough of this!

Fresh and take out here is better than waterfront sushi restaurant.

Ordered premium sushi platter for dinner and wait time was 40 minutes – called in prior to pick up.

Ate it about 15 minutes later for commute but was still delicious. Saba, uni, salmon eggs were well prepared and fresh.

Premium sushi platter is enough for two, maybe three male adults.

Definitely would recommend as a very good sushi take out spot.

Decent quality. What I would expect from the brothers of Japan. Price isn’t great and the portions are small. Not tiny, but small. Not giant Chinese or Korean sushi portions but better quality. On Par with what Aburi Market would charge. No atmosphere in this place, some small Japanese grocery items that you can find at most Japanese grocery stores. Staff is a bit grumpy…
