I read the reviews and saw some issues, but decided to try it anyway. We met some friends there that arrived before us. They waited about 20 minutes to get drinks. Not acceptable. There was only about 15 or so people in the restaurant. We were seated in a booth, which was very small. All of the booths are small, really only for 2 people, not 4. There are tables though. The ambiance was nice and cozy. Once we ordered, I thought it took longer than usual to get our food. I did not note how long though. The food was okay. The Chicken Marsala looked good, but shouldn’t it have a brown sauce, not white? A small bed or noodles with it would have been nice too. I gave it an 8 out of 10. The steak was cooked correctly, but flavor was lacking and it was slightly tough. I gave it a 5 out of 10 for the price. The swordfish was just okay. The potatoes were excellent, as noted by other reviews. No bread was supplied, it was an additional $7 for 4 small pieces of garlic bread. Bread should be included. I believe that there is definitely room for improvement. I will give them another try in few months. Of note, they charge a credit card fee automatically on the bill. It is small, but should just be absorbed in the cost of doing business. Give it a try and see what you think.

The atmosphere is cool, and it’s clear they’re going for a more upscale vibe. However, it felt more like the restaurant was pretending to be upscale rather than actually delivering an upscale experience—especially given the price point.
The service was good and attentive, and the drinks were solid. My husband enjoyed the garlic bread. We were told the kitchen was very short-staffed, and while the food took a bit longer to come out, that wasn’t an issue for us.
Unfortunately, the food itself didn’t match the pricing. I ordered the linguine with clams, which was extremely dry and nearly flavorless—there was no sauce at all, just a small amount of garlic and herbs. I couldn’t eat it, so my husband switched plates with me. He had ordered the chicken marsala, which he thought was just okay and nothing memorable.
Ironically, the potatoes were the best part of the meal—and my husband doesn’t even like potatoes, which probably says a lot.
We’re wondering if the kitchen staffing issues affected the quality of the food that night, and we hope things improve as they get settled. There’s potential here with the atmosphere, service, and drinks, but at this price point, the food needs to be significantly better for us to return.

Very new Italian restaurant which took over the Boyd’s place. Very friendly staff with a knowledgeable chef. The chef Paul Stearman is also involved at the Bistro 112 restaurant in Shepherdstown.

Cozy romantic atmosphere with a bar that has history dating back to Al Capone being an owner.

Being very new the bar is not fully stocked and the wine list is very limited. While speaking to the chef he mentioned that the wine list will be expanded very soon. The menu will expand as well so there’s an expectation of fresh pasta being on the menu at some point as well. So far everything is very good and it sounds like great things are planned down the road.

When at the bar, Marie will take very good care of you. She’s great to talk to as well. We’ll definitely be back in a few weeks to check on the planned updates.

If you’re looking to step out of the modern rush and into a pocket of history, check out Saretto in Martinsburg. It’s the kind of place that feels like a well-kept secret, offering an experience that is as much about the ambiance as it is about the menu. The restaurant leans heavily into a 1920s–1930s aesthetic, with decor that feels authentically vintage. The menu features excellent Italian food that hits the sweet spot on traditional comfort. Drinks hit the spot as well, I opted for the Old Fashioned, and it was perfectly balanced, not overly sweet or to over powering.

Amazing food tonight! The steak and chicken marsala were excellent, and the tiramisu was the perfect finish.

4.5 overall for a soft opening.
We are so excited to have a new spot in Martinsburg and I think Saretto is a great add to the neighborhood
We’ve stopped in twice prior just to the bar and had a full dinner Saturday in the dinning room.
The bar is from Al Caponne’s estate dating to the 1920’s which is pretty cool.
Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. Shout out to Marie the bartender and Chef Paul.
Food was flavorful. I was hoping for fresh pasta and was told there are plans for that in the future.
What we ate:
* Bruschetta: tomato, garlic, basil, crostini, xvoo
* Chicken Marsala: Crimini mushrooms, marsala wine, baby spinach
* Putanesca: olives, capers, garlic, onion, parsley, anchovy
* Tiramisu: lady fingers mascarpone, espresso, cocoa
A few kinks to work out as they get into their groove but a lot of potential.
We are looking forward to see the evolution of the spot. The chef plans on fresh pasta and unique specials in the future as well as an expanded Italian wine list. I also assume there will be upgrades to glassware and silverware (I had the smallest fork I’ve ever seen for dinner and a wobbly steak knife)
My rating rationale
+1 Service

Maria was fantastic. We asked her about an Italian wine. She gave us a suggestion. It was fantastic. Both my wife’s and my pasta were great. They were out of what my wife wanted, but the chef went out of his way to make something similar to what she wanted. It may have been better that what was on the menu. They didn’t make us supper… they made us a memory. Thank you

The New York steak is amazing! Chef Paul and his team have skills in the kitchen. Go see Marie at the bar. She’s a wizard with the drinks. My wife’s favorite is the extra dirty martini, I called it the Julia Roberts Martini(Pretty Woman). You won’t be disappointed, if a dirty martini is your thing. See pic. More photos to come, since we’re going back for sure!
