Saravanaa Bhavan is definitely your place!
Their meal is delicious and filling. Their idli and sambar is simply yum!
Do try and enjoy!
We had to repeatedly call the staff to place our order, and even then, the service was incredibly slow. To add insult to injury, they neglected to clear our plates after we finished eating. We had to personally hand them to them, and to make matters worse, they casually discarded the used plates onto another table as if it didn’t matter.
The restaurant is outrageously overpriced for the quality of food and the appalling service provided. One of the most concerning issues was the drinking glasses. They had a strong, unpleasant odor of detergent or bleach. Please do not drink water without smelling the glass first.
Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. It was not worth the money or time spent there.
The food quality, portion sizes, and pricing are well-balanced. During our visit, we ordered Dahi Wada, Chana Bhatura, Thali, Spring Dosa, and South Indian coffee. While most dishes were flavorful and satisfying—especially the Chana Bhatura, which had a rich and well-balanced flavor—the coffee was underwhelming. It lacked the expected froth and depth of bitterness typical of a good South Indian filter coffee. I wish I had taken a picture!
The overall ambiance is pleasant, although it does give off a bit of a cafeteria-style vibe.
Plenty of parking. The amount of time you have to wait will depend on when you go in. My family of 10 people stopped for a late lunch. It took us about 10 minutes to be seated.
The one thing they could improve is service. We were seated at the far end of the restaurant. So obviously, the waiter checked on us not often. Also, they forgot an item that I ordered. It was an extra add-on Porotta so I didn’t mind it. But shows a lack of attention to service.
Prices are typical for what you might expect from a restaurant like this. Our group of 10 people (8 adults and 2 kids) rang up $190.
I ordered chili mushroom and paneer Byriani, both were super fresh and tasty. The rice was delicious and the portions large enough.
Service was very good too since I entered the place, the take care of you quick and have tables for large parties.
Keep it up!! Great restaurant.
This gem was just a hop, skip, and a burp away from my hotel. I went on a quiet Tuesday evening and—voilà!—booth secured, food served, and hunger conquered all in record time.
Now, I’d read some old reviews moaning about slow service and long waits. But let’s be honest: when there’s a crowd, even superheroes drop a few plates. On my visit? No complaints. Service was smooth, smiles were free, and the food came flying (not literally, thankfully).
Here’s where I goofed: I ordered North Indian classics—Chana Bhatura and Veg Manchurian. Were they good? Yes. Life-changing? Not quite. Tasty, but you could find similar stuff at your neighborhood “India Palace and Tajmahal” kind of Restaurants.
Moral of the masala: When in a South Indian restaurant, eat South Indian food. Lesson learned the deliciously hard way.
Oh, and I did try the legendary Filter Kapi. It was bold, beautiful, and gave me a caffeine-powered hug. Highly recommend sipping that after your meal—it’s like dessert with a degree.
It was the first and last time we visited this place today.
And, we got onion bhaaji (see attached picture) where onion has nowhere basen attached to it and surprisingly it was served with sambar, not with chutney.
