Reviews
I know people are hesitant to believe reviews. In this case, they should just see how the owner response to their negative reviews. Calling people a liar. Insulting people because their son needs the menu read to him. Insulting people who thought their pancakes were burned… This is the first negative review I’ve ever left anywhere and your reaction is proof that I did the right thing.
Visiting from out of town, looked like a great place for breakfast. There was one other couple in the place. The lady acted like we were interrupting her day and was very rude. She wouldn’t answer any questions we had about the menu. She asked what kind of toast we wanted and i asked “which is the best?” And her answer was “That’s a matter of opinion.” We got our breakfast and it was not very good at all. The pancakes lacked any flavor. I got corned beef and it was nothing more than sliced deli meat fried on an egg. We ordered 3 loves of bread to take home and when asked for them the only response was “I don’t know, if we have some left I guess.” We tried the bread later that day and it was dense, flavorless, and stale as if it had been sitting out for a day and a half. If you are hungry and you see this place drive a half a block and you’ll see a McDonald’s, you are better off going there and getting their processed garbage than going to Saranac Sourdough and get treated like garbage! I’ve had better meals and friendlier service in the army eating out of mermite cans in the field. Never going back, would warn others to stay clear.
I thought the croquet madame was basically ham, cheese, and egg on good bread, not bad but nothing particularly special.
The Thai chicken sandwich is a solid chicken breast with some spices and peanut sauce, it’s decent.
The roasted vegetable sandwich on olive bread is awesome! Both the roasted veggies themselves and the bread itself.
Sandwiches are not massive, probably similar in size to what you might make at home.
After reading the reviews I expected surly service but I found the lady and gentleman (presumably the owners) friendly enough.
With a name as cute as Saranac Sourdough, it certainly has potential. But her attitude surely will not generate repeat customers.
