We clearly stuck out like a sore thumb among a sea of Hispanic families, but no one made us feel uncomfortable and our server was patient with our flood of questions about the menu.
A quick glance around the restaurant quickly revealed that nearly table had bowls of a deep orange broth topped with red onions…so we immediately knew we had to order that. Called encebollado, and it’s our new treasure find. Ecuador’s powerful answer to pho, it comes with either fish and/or shrimp (orderer’s choice) along with hearty chunks of potato. We fell in instant love at first bites, proving once more that when in doubt, it’s best to eat what everyone else is eating.
We also ordered a skirt steak (called ‘Churrasco Sophis’ on the menu) as a safe and familiar choice in case the soup didn’t work out. This, too, was fantastic on several counts. Our medium-well steak was cooked to order but still tender enough to cut obligingly under a butter knife. With generous accoutrements of a soft fried egg, plantains, avocado, salad, and a bed of fries, this was also an enormous serving of food.
That said, that there wasn’t much of it left over seems to show how much we enjoyed it.
A few things to know for newcomers:
(1) This is a casual spot, so don’t expect white glove service. You seat yourselves at any available empty table and a passing server will eventually notice you and drop menus by. No one comes by to check on you except to deliver your meal, so there might be a small wait for closing out your check.
(2) Tip is automatically calculated at 18%, and there’s an added 3% convenience charge for credit card payments.
(3) Finding parking can be kinda tough. The main street in front has limited paid street parking (ParkMobile app) any time I’m in this area.
The only thing I personally don’t like about the place is the loud music, but If asked, they lower the volume. the other annoying thing is that they close way too early. Other than that 10/10 recommended
Her attitude was so rude that it got to the point of charging us for the containers that we requested to take the horrible food home. Even the dog will not eat it. If this is a restaurant policy I wonder if they charge for the containers to food to go. But in any case, such ungenerous policy would make it for any customer to never want go back.
On top of the horrible service that she knew she was providing they had the nerve to include the gratuity in the check (which is not legal) I aways tip 20% or better to GOOD SERVICE! But this I will report to the better business bureau because a tip to bad service is not MANDATORY. A restaurant can make tip suggestions but not include a service fee to table of 2 guests.
I see the other horrible reviews that this place has and I live in the area and can tell to Sara y Sophia that this is why your “restaurant” is always empty.
To say the least, I have been a loyal local customer, and have reordered multiple times hoping the below issues were only a honest mistake as oppose to the restaurant ripping their customers off.
The Ceviche Verde dish has always been my go to dish! Base on my previous photo posts, you can see the drastic portion differences in the amount food I’ve been given. The portion has shrunken by 1/2 the amount, but the price remains the same- around $21 after tax. You get less avocados now, but it’s just less of everything, especially bits of fish. The plantain chips comes with this dish, and it has been soggy. I want to say they are soggy 3 out of 5 times.
An order of dessert is alway added to my order. I ordered the tiramisu for the past two orders. For this order, my tiramisu is missing the bottom half!! So disappointed. As for my previous order, my tiramisu was missing or the tres leche amount is only a small square piece and the restaurant did not issue a replacement or a refund.
Packing is not impressive- containers are usually crushed and food can be leaking.
Unfortunately, the service and food quality has consistently gone downhill. No plans to order again anytime soon.

I ordered take-out today over the phone since I wasn’t able to do so over several food delivery app services.
Turns out there is a recent change in ownership. The restaurant was previously know as Bohemia Resturant. Now this spot is call the Sara & Sophia Restaurant.
The menu and prices remained the same. There is a $1 fee for credit card transactions.
I HIGHLY recommend the ceviche verde entree. There are generous pieces of avocado (felt like they used 1 whole medium sz avocado), cubed pieces of fish (bursting with flavor), octopus, squid, and jumbo shrimps.
Lots of red onion and sour lime/lemon sauce!! Please keep making this dish with this recipe!! Amazing!
The only downside is that the plantain chips were soggy and soft by the time the food was delivered. The chips were packaged in an separate container, but Maybe they can pack the chips last and pierce a hole in the container to avoid condensation.
My husband ordered the breaded avocado salad. The bread chicken could be crispier. The dressing was runny. He definitely got more Chicken than salad, which is okay by him for being a bigger eater. But it was still delicious overall and he would order that again.
The side of sweet plantains could be cooked longer for softness and with some sugar for sweetness. I have to mention that these plantains were cut very neatly! All the details make a difference.
Both entrees are packed in lidded plastic container bowls. Portions were generous. I like how they didn’t include utensils since the food was delivered to us and we have silverware at home.
Although I love the food here. I have to say that it’s been already a few times that I encounter servers that are horrible with attention and costumer service.
If I have to go to the register to remind someone that we’re here and we need to order, then I have to do the same to remind you that we’re here and we need the check and on top of that, you automatically add the gratuity (even when it’s only 2 of us) then something needs to change. Exactly the same experience when I’ve ordered take-out and I go to pick it up and they don’t even respond to the “good afternoon”. Seriously? Some basic manners and an apology would have made this so much better. But instead, after the servers noticed that clearly I’m upset with the service, she approached us with the check and complete poker face and never said one single word about it. The worst part? The place barely had clients to at least use the excuse that they are busy.
Once again. I love the food, but the service clearly has to improve.
Omg, finally great ecuadorian food. I went with a group of friends, I’m ecuadorian, they are not. We all enjoyed our food, the service was good and the place is really nice. I’m sooooo happy I finally found a place with good and authentic ecuadorian food!! I’ll return for sure!!
