Over the years I have tried a wide variety of items here including sushi, sashimi, raw dishes, chicken katsu, and bibimbap. Everything is consistently fresh and beautifully prepared when dining in, though I will say that when I have ordered food to go, especially non-sushi dishes like the chicken katsu or bibimbap, they have not been quite as good as enjoying them in the restaurant. For me, the dine-in experience is where Sapporo really shines.
What truly makes this place stand out is the owner, Nikki. She has proven herself to not only be an excellent business owner, but also a genuinely kind person. Nikki always goes above and beyond to make sure her guests are taken care of, and she is more than accommodating with adjustments based on preference. That personal touch makes every visit feel welcoming and memorable.
Sapporo feels like a true hidden gem in town. It is not the kind of place you would expect to find here, and yet it continues to impress with both the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. The only small thing I have noticed is that the tables can sometimes feel a little tight, but that is not really something within their control and it has never taken away from the experience.
I am so glad my neighbor introduced me to it, and I recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding sushi paired with genuine hospitality.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the service. The reception and hospitality from the owner, Nikki, are outstanding and make you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you walk in. That personal touch elevates the entire experience.
Highly recommend for both the food and the atmosphere.
Nikki and the team are always so hospitable and welcoming, and make this place about the food and hospitality. We are local but would drive an hour plus for this-come give this a try you DMV folks!
Wow, what a fantastic dining experience! We were able to dine-in for lunch before they closed at 2:30pm. We started with the Avocado Bomb and Jalapeno Bomb for appetizers. My partner was not a fan of avocados until now. The avocado bomb transformed his palet so much so he ordered a second.we also shared the Gop-dol Bi-bim-bap which comes with the fried egg on top. Our meal was so delicious. But on top of it was the connection and conversation we made with the owner, Niki (sp?). What a beautiful soul and a gift to the Waynesboro community. We look forward to returning again for a delicious meal and enjoying the wonderful service she brings. So many great selections on the menu. Thank you again Niki.
One major downside was the pricing; I felt it was overpriced for the quality and portions we received. However, what truly made the experience unpleasant was the atmosphere. The chairs were uncomfortable and the tables were small, making it difficult to enjoy the meal comfortably.
The restaurant was quite dark, almost giving the impression that they were trying to hide something. Additionally, the air conditioning seemed to be malfunctioning as it was very humid inside. One lady at a nearby table was fanning herself the entire time, which was a clear indicator of the uncomfortable conditions.
If the atmosphere had been better, I would have rated the restaurant much higher. Unfortunately, the discomfort significantly overshadowed the meal. I hope they address these issues, as it has the potential to be a much better dining experience.
