I mainly ordered the following:

Butter chicken

Chicken nuggets and chips

Chicken biryani

Mix salad

SPPPHIE Mix Platter

2 naan

I actually have a few points about the food.
The good dishes were the butter chicken and the chicken nuggets with chips. The butter chicken was a bit sweet, but still nice, and the nuggets and chips are good for kids.

The chicken biryani was below average, and the other items were not something I can really recommend, as the taste was quite poor.

I was also really surprised by the mix salad. It only came with sliced carrot, onion and cucumber with a bit of parsley on top. I was expecting a more mixed salad with more variety.

I really liked the samosa, it was far better than the ones I’ve tried elsewhere. The naan and curry were also good ❤️ I think everyone should try that samosa—it’s really good

Dinner at Sapphire Indian – A Solo Delight

Dining solo at Sapphire Indian Restaurant in Newcastle turned out to be a richly rewarding experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive service made me feel welcome and relaxed.

I started with the Tandoori Murg Tikka – tender, boneless chicken thigh fillets marinated in yoghurt and an aromatic blend of dry herbs and spices, grilled to perfection in the tandoor. The dish arrived sizzling hot, beautifully presented on skewers, and bursting with smoky depth and bold flavour.

Next came the Laal Maas, a fiery Rajasthani beef curry that truly lived up to its reputation. The sauce was luxuriously rich and packed with layers of spice and heat – not just a burn, but the kind of complexity that warms your soul. Every bite delivered that perfect balance of intensity and flavour, with tender chunks of beef soaking up the deep, earthy masala.

Complementing the meal were crisp papadams served with a refreshingly zesty mint sauce, a perfect cooling contrast to the heat of the curry.

What pleasantly surprised me was the extensive zero-alcohol wine list – a rare and very welcome touch.

All in all, Sapphire delivered a beautifully spiced, thoughtfully curated experience – whether you’re dining solo or in company. Highly recommended for lovers of Indian cuisine who appreciate flavour, finesse, and fantastic non-alcoholic options.

The staff are lovely too! Thanks team for a great dinner.

Customer service is good, sorry but food is average tbh, those curry dishes were so salty and they kept me thirsty all night …

Very nice restaurant. So far the best Indian restaurant in Newcastle. Very flavourful and spicy food. The lassi were so nice…this a lot of places mess up, but here it was on point

I ordered from these guys on Uber eats. I ordered the marinated lamb cutlets and the chilli potatoes. It was some of the tastier lamb I’ve ever tried. They were tender, spicy with the Kashmiri spices and moorish . A work of art.

I ordered butter chicken. It’s at it’s worst. Half cooked chicken. Worst taste.

Over priced and disgusting. Chicken in my curry had bone and knuckle. Chicken tasted suspect. Lamb cutlets were not good quality, chewy and spice combinations was far to much I couldn’t even taste lamb. Threw everything in the bin to hopefully avoid food poisoning Nearly $70 for 1 entree, 1 curry, rice and naan. Refund would actually be nice.

We have loved Sapphire for a long time. The food is always excellent and we often have special occasions there. However the service is patchy – like asking for our soft drinks in glasses or asking for our naan to be cut into quarters – that is ignored.
The most annoying new “feature” is that to make a booking, you have to pay a $100 deposit. While not ideal, I can understand this deters people from making a booking and then not turning up. What I don’t like and think would be explained is that the deposit isn’t taken off your bill. It’s given back to you “automatically” at some point in the future.
Such a disappointing experience from a restaurant we loved. Going there feels hard and disappointing but at least the food still tastes good.

Great flavours with all of the hot food. Mango & pistachio kulfi were disappointing. A very stark dining area that in my opinion could benefit from at the least some indoor pot plants.
