the service was excellent, we were welcomed first by a guy named Mazen and he was extraordinary & generous when he offered complimentary fresh lemonade , later we were served by a very warm waitress named Clarita who was helpful and attentive in every detail, the lasagna was out of this world (oven baked) , the margarita pizza was yummy as well , but the icing on the cake was the tiramisu a must try hidden gem when you visit the area
we had the Diavola pizza and lasagne. But the real game changer was the pain perdu… absolutely out of this world! Was gonna give 4 stars but that dessert made it an easy 5 Definitely coming back to try more dishes!
Didn’t take my time to capture good pictures!the food looks much better in person
The lasagne was delicious, as well as the Penne with chicken & Alfredo sauce but the highlight of the evening was the pain perdu
Highly recommended.
Remark: it was worth the drive (more than 50 KM from Aley to Jbeil)
I want to preface this review by giving a warm thank you to Serge Harb, who made our stay very memorable. For context, I had once (some months ago) left a low-rated review from a birthday dinner booked for my partner. Since then, Serge has not only called me and my partner to issue a formal apology, but to also follow-up multiple times regarding an invitation to Sapori.
1. The food: We had ordered a large variety of plates. Namely, we had gotten the Insalata all’emiliana (parma ham salad), Carpaccio di salmone, Filetto di manzo ai porcini, Pizza Tartufata 2.0, and the Tiramisu. Overall, the food was truly delicious; made with fresh ingredients and premium quality. The salmon carpaccio truly stood out: it was fresh, tangy, citrusy, and creamy- a true delight. The pizza’s dough was very light, airy, and fluffy, the way it is supposed to be. Even the truffle cream was light, which sat well with us. The steak was tender and the rosemary roasted potatoes were a wonderful addition. Serge insisted we have the prosecco, which tasted vibrant and was a much needed addition to our meal. Overall, the food did not disappoint- at all!
2. The service: The service was consistent from start to finish. We had a warm greeting when we first walked in, sat us right at our table, and were fast and accommodating all throughout our stay. The food arrived promptly to our table, freshly made. The staff were kind and Serge’s recommendations were spot-on. There was attention to detail: any used plates or cutlery were immediately changed routinely. Our glasses of prosecco were regularly filled. And an overall clean environment was always maintained. A special thank you because we came in during rush hour (2pm on a Sunday)! Towards the end, we also had their house-made limoncello- a must-try!!
3. The atmosphere: The music was calm and lovely. We came in at a time that was busy, but it wasn’t too loud and the overall ambience was good, all of which is commendable.
4. Cleanliness: The place was overall clean. The table, plates, and cutlery were regularly maintained. Something that is always appreciated and positively impacts the whole experience.
5. Final thoughts: My partner and I truly appreciate the lengths the Sapori staff went to in order to give us the experience we know Sapori by. It was an untmost pleasure, absolutely looking forward to coming back, and highly recommended for great food and a great time! Thank you once again.
We dined here recently, drawn in by the glowing 4.5-star rating and sleek presentation. What we encountered instead was a surreal combination of rushed service, poorly executed food, and misplaced self-confidence.
We ordered the Ravioli ai Porcini, Linguine with shrimp, pistachio pesto and burrata, two cocktails (Gin Basil and Aperol Spritz), and a bottle of water. Everything – and I mean everything – arrived at the table within four minutes of ordering. While speed can be impressive, here it signaled something else entirely: a lack of care, freshness, or quality.
The ravioli was a particular letdown – overly pureed, borderline canned in texture, and far from fresh. The linguine was just as lifeless. The Gin Basil somehow managed to be both flat and off-balance. Even the limoncello, which was offered to us later, was undrinkable. You truly couldn’t pay us to eat here again.
The service was almost nonexistent, and to add insult to injury, the credit card machine “happened” to not work that evening – a detail I raised on the phone two days later. No explanation was offered.
To his credit, the operations manager, Tony, did call back and offer a breakfast for two – a kind gesture. We declined. We felt bloated and mildly sick from the experience, and the thought of eating more from the same kitchen just wasn’t an option.
What surprised us most was Tony’s pride in supplying pizzas to another restaurant we actually love – one that executes with care and attention to detail. Unfortunately, access to good ingredients is meaningless when execution fails this profoundly.
It’s also worth noting that a large number of this restaurant’s recent five-star reviews come from accounts with only one review – a suspicious pattern that undermines the credibility of their high average.
The numbers may dazzle, but the food does not.
