A rare 5 stars all the way through. Friendly and attentive staff. Clean, warm, and inviting atmosphere. Brick oven on full display behind the granite slab bar with an older gentleman working a counter prepping pizza pies with fresh ingredients. The place was buzzing with what looked like locals. Everyone seemed to know everyone else, including the staff. First name basis stuff. The scent of resh flatbread filled the air. The chicken parm? Wonderful.

First time here, went with a friend for her birthday. Granted it was a Friday night at 810, when they close at 9, plenty of time. We were greeted right away and seated, very friendly. Both ordered, they brought out some delicious bread. We ordered a focaccia and our entrée. Focaccia was probably the best thing ordered. Not sure how you can mess up pasta, mine was warm on one side and cold on the other all while under three big thin pieces of eggplant. This eggplant couldn’t be any thinner, it was so tough. I really wanted to like it. The staff was so friendly and great atmosphere, but the food that we ate was not the best. As good as the bread was, I would like to go back and try the pizza, give them another chance…

Back again for Happy Hour and an early supper (because once you know the magic that happens at 4 PM, you plan your whole day around it). Snagged our favorite bar seats, because honestly—watching the wood-fired oven do its thing is half the fun.

Started with the Dell’Orto salad—spring mix piled high with cherry tomatoes, juicy strawberries, fresh orange slices, raspberries, and dried cranberries. It was like a farmers market in a bowl, and yes, I felt totally proud of myself about how fresh and healthy it was. But who was I really kidding since I knew the lemon blueberry cheesecake was in my future…again! No judging!

Then came the main event: chicken fettuccine Alfredo with just a little Cajun kick—because our favorite waiter, Natan J (seriously, he’s the best), knows exactly what to recommend because he takes the time to ask about preferences!

The Italian vibe? Still charming. The staff? Still friendly. The food? Still fresh, flavorful, and comfort in every bite. Basically, Sapori is still my go-to for a midweek mood boost and a full belly.

We popped into Sapori D’Italia right at opening time—4:00 PM sharp—because we had one goal: snag a seat at the bar for Happy Hour and soak up all that Italian goodness. Mission accomplished.

And for me, sitting at the bar here is a whole experience. You’re front row for the wood-fired oven magic show—pizzas bubbling, bread baking, and the air filled with that glorious mix of garlic, herbs, and a little something that just whispers, you’re about to eat well. Seriously, who doesn’t love dinner and a show!

Natan J was our server, and he was absolutely fantastic. Super friendly, but what really impressed me was how thoughtful he was with his suggestions. He didn’t just rattle off the specials—he asked what we were in the mood for, and then gave detailed reasons why we’d love each dish. Love that. He’s definitely my favorite!

From the Happy Hour menu, we went with the fried ravioli with marinara (crispy little pillows of happiness) and the spaghetti and meatballs—comfort food done right. I am obsessed with this simple but oh so flavorful dish!! And at $14 for both the spaghetti and meatballs, it is definitely worth that Happy Hour price.

Then we jumped over to the weekly specials and tried the Cajun Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli. Wow. Creamy, not too spicy, just the right kick of Cajun flavor. It was one of those dishes where you’re already planning your next visit just so you can order it again. And yes, I even loved the broccoli in this dish!

Dessert? Cue the dramatic music. Cheesecake. Two kinds. Mixed berry and chocolate raspberry. Both were rich, creamy, and completely decadent. Definitely big enough to share—or, let’s be honest, I am not sharing but I am saving some for later to enjoy the yumminess all over again.

The whole place has this great neighborhood feel. Small, cozy, warm lighting, and you can tell the staff genuinely cares. Service was on point—attentive without being overbearing.

Already counting down the days until our next visit. If you haven’t been yet, go. But maybe don’t tell too many people—I still want to be able to get a seat at the bar

Had a very weird “greeting ” from who we think is the owner that was initially off-putting. The rest of the staff (hostes, bartender and server) were great. The Owner later came over to our table and tried to warm us up to her which was appreciated. The happy hour outings and prices were very good. Liked the meatballs, calamari and drinks a lot. Fried ravioli was OK but a bit dry. Our server was quick, attentive and engaging. The dinner menu looked really good but we only were having apps and plan to go back.

Just moved to FH and loved Sapori! The vibes were immaculate and the pizza oven looked awesome! I ordered chicken Alfredo and I thoroughly enjoyed it, definitely interested in coming back to try the pizza but only complaint was the Alfredo sauce wasn’t as flavorful as I hoped. Thanks!

Let’s begin with the good things. Our dinner wasn’t served cold.

The food was consistently badly prepared, either under or over done, sloppily plated and tasteless. The calamari appetizer was underdone and tasteless. The salads, Caesar and arugula, were swimming in dressing. The eggplant parmigiana was served on a mountain of overdone spaghetti with red sauce. The muscles were tasty but they were served on a bed of pasta that had absolutely no seasoning. Same with the clams. The lasagna had NO ricotta or any other cheese with the exception of mozzarella on top.

The service was distracted and slow. At the end of the meal, our waiter proceeded to scrape the food from the plates (mountains of uneaten pasta) on to a single plate. This was done at the edge of the very small table so the uneaten food splashed on to the guests sitting next to this highly inappropriate table side activity.

I have no ax to grind here. It was really that bad.

I came across this restaurant while on a staycation. I sat at the bar and they were super busy. It’s a small restaurant, so know you might have to wait for a table. They have a great happy hour menu. Their bread they give you to start is probably the best bread I have ever had (and I’ve been to Italy). A great place for a casual good dinner. It is very loud because of the size, so keep that in mind.

You should be on your way if you’re reading these reviews. We were fortunate enough to stumble on this restaurant while visiting. We ended up having dinner at Sapori three nights in a row! We loved the atmosphere, the food and the staff. Be sure to pick out your dessert early as they go fast. If Ashleigh remembers to save your slice of cake you’ll be happy : ) Get it to-go even if you’re full as they make for a great breakfast!

As a recent transplant to Fountain Hills, I almost don’t want to write this review. I love this place so much I want to keep it to myself! Do you like authentic Sicilian Italian? Friendly service? Owners that do table touches? If so, don’t skip this gem. I have been twice snd happy hour is long and generous (so certainly will be back!)

And that wood fired flat bread you get fresh as soon as you sit down? Unforgettable!

I saw a bunch of desserts go out, so that is next on our list to try!
