We love the ethos of this place. Real food at a restaurant is awesome and surprisingly difficult to find. They cook super clean so you can relax and enjoy! The menu is diverse and reasonably priced for such high quality food. Food was delicious! Though it did take a very long time for our appetizer to come out (at least 30 mins!) so don’t be in a rush. The entrees came out very quickly after that. Service was friendly though not enthusiastic. Family run spot which is great. Not a big place so reservations will help. Highly recommend!

This place is a true gem!
The chefs are phenomenal. I had the local 24 oz. Ribeye and it was out of this world spectacular. I haven’t seen a steak that think in ages. It was more than I could eat in one sitting and I assure you it was just as good the second sitting Al on me with the butternut squash & trumpet mushroom. My friend had the Lamb and that was also out of this world spectacular melting in your mouth goodness.
I will most certainly be back here again soon!

Great spot for a birthday dinner. The staff was wonderful. We didn’t pay attention that it is a BYOB restaurant. But after they mentioned that to us, they held our table while we ran to the store for a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meal.

Great staff and excellent food. It’s all made from scratch so you have to be patient but it is so worth it! Every bite was a moment of delight. I had the Sapiens onion soup appetizer, paleo meat loaf entree and for desert the apple crumble. It was impeccable. We came with a family member who has a very sensitive diet and being able to order from this menu brought her so much joy!! We all left extremely impressed by the taste and quality! Highly recommend.

5 star food and 5 star service! The ambiance is that of a small French cafe. Aurora is a brilliant French chef and owner of Sapiens. My wife has celiac disease and the tiniest bit of gluten causes severe illness for weeks. Sapiens is entirely gluten free, lactose free, organic and paleo.

We started with a bread and herb-ghee platter, the breads made in house with heartwarming specialty grains. Amazing!

My wife ordered the lamb shank with root vegetables. It was so tender, tasty and plentiful. She took the leftovers home and gave our dog a few bites. The dog loved this lamb so much that she refused to eat for two days until we replaced her daily fresh cooked beef with lamb! Haha!

I ordered the Rabbit with root vegetables having never eaten rabbit before. I figured this would be the right place to try it and I was correct! It was extremely delicious and delicately prepared

Cost was very reasonable especially for this level of cuisine. There’s no alcohol served, but if you bring your own wine with you, they will happily provide corkage service.

Let’s start with the positives. I love that I found a paleo restaurant where I can order anything from the menu. I appreciated the education about the paleo diet that was provided at each table. The parking was spacious, the meatloaf was good, and everything was beautifully plated.

However, there were several issues. The chicken was dry and bland. The rabbit was tasty, but it mostly consisted of bones and lacked the pearl onions. Additionally, the potatoes arrived late. We had made reservations for 5 PM, but the hours seemed a bit unusual, so I took what I could get for a birthday dinner. When we arrived, there was no music, and it didn’t appear that they were ready to welcome guests. From what I could tell, there was only one server and one chef working. The place was cute but cramped, and the chef was on the phone for most of our visit.

It took an hour for any food to reach the table, and there was little acknowledgment of the two birthdays being celebrated. Our food arrived cold, and when the music finally turned on, it was too loud and startled us halfway through the meal.

The main reason I am giving this review two stars is that there was NO SOAP in the bathroom for the entire two hours we were there. The following day, several people from our table experienced stomachaches and nausea.

I’m really disappointed as I had hoped this could be a new regular spot for us. Additionally, I hate to leave bad reviews for a small business as I love supporting local and family owned. However, due to the lack of cleanliness and the quality of the food, we will not be returning. For over $150 this was completely unacceptable. I really hope some positive changes are made.

Brought my husband here to have a “healthy” lower carb birthday dinner as we are trying to clean up our diet. Amazing to find a restaurant that has NO grains, dairy, soy, corn, refined sugar, etc…. I can’t even remember all the things! AND serves grass-fed beef, wild fish, liver, duck, rabbit, etc. The French onion soup was yummy but the paleo bread served on the side was a bit dry so good dunked in the broth. My husband was pleasantly surprised by the size of his liver pate appetizer. I branched out to try the duck and his meatloaf was very good. The veggies were all too underdone so next time I will ask them to roast longer since they make everything fresh. I would have loved to byob but $15 corking fee is too steep for me. Took chocolate dessert home to enjoy with a glass of wine. I plan to go back and try other things, maybe even their meal delivery service. It was slow enough we got to meet the chef

This is a really wonderful restaurant. I love a good French cuisine and this place certainly delivered. It’s not a large restaurant and I was surprised it was not more crowded on a Friday night. But all of the food we got was really excellent. The bruschetta was really flavorful. The onion soup was out of this world good. You can order it with cheese or without cheese. In this instance I just wanted to taste their actual soup instead of the cheese so I ordered it without and it was exceptional. One of the best I’ve ever had. All of our entrees were really good. The liver and onions was so tender and the onions that were on top of it were excellently prepared. For dessert we split and got creme caramel and a creme brulee that was chocolate. For dairy-free items I was totally amazed at how good this was. So this is a place you do not want to skip. I will certainly be back. But the one thing I noticed once I got there that I didn’t notice before or pay any attention to was that they don’t actually have a liquor license so there’s no wine or liquor served there. But you can bring your own and they do have a cork fee although I don’t know what that is. Next time we will certainly bring our own wine

Very sweet staff and chef even spent time speaking to us at our table. I would call it a hidden gem in North East Scottsdale. The rib eye steak was delicious. Local sourced food in the entire menu cooked to order. Organic with no seed oils from what we saw on the menu. Overall great spot that we would come back to when visiting from out of town

I am a very strict picky Paleo eater and felt like the menu was thorough and I had lots to pick from.

very cozy restaurant, the service is moderate to slow but considering how detail oriented they are with the food it’s understandable.

The waitress knew the menu very well and was friendly.

portion sizes were a bit small, and the vegetable choices were a bit disappointing as I’m not a huge fan of zucchini and the brussels sprouts and zucchini my dish came with were not prepared amazing.

Dessert was too good to take a picture before. We got the apple pie crisp which was delightful, it was coconut sugar inside with organic cinnamon and just a dollop of sweet potato ice cream.
