There was a slight breeze blowing throughout the restaurant which mostly has outside seating. With some nice light tunes playing, and string and candle light setting the mood, we ordered few glasses of Sauvignon Blanc to get us started.
With the wine we paired a few appetizers, the Spicy Edemamme and the Duo of Mini Carmelized Skewers (Shrimp and Marinated Steak). Don’t be scared off by the spicy description of the edemamme, it only has sea salt, soy sauce and lots of garlic. BTW, it is a huge serving and could feed at least four people. The skewers were a perfect choice to start. There are four to an order, two of each kind. There were three medium shrimp on each skewer and two large bites of meat ones. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, and combined with a subtile marinade, the meat melted in our mouths.
For the main course, we chose the Sushi Omakase Platter and went with 21 pieces. You can choose 15, 21, 30, 42 or 60 pieces. Each platter comes with 1/3 sashimi, nigiri and maki, all chefs choice. Our had salmon, tuna, sea bass, shrimp, salmon with a spicy mayo and a hamachi roll. A little seaweed salad too.
We also added a few pieces of unagi, which we customarily eat last as a sort of dessert. Not, that there was ever a doubt, all the seafood was very fresh, with some caught locally earlier in the day.
Sao has a regular menu in addition to it’s sushi offerings. Choices include different Pad Thais, Indian Currys and Chinese Bao Buns. There are also fish and meat selections available.
Service was excellent, and we did not feel rushed the entire evening. We ended our dinner with espresso and complimentary Caribbean shots.
The location of Sao Asian Factory is in the Orient Bay Village Square. Within the square are eight different restaurants with a wide range of cusines.
But definitely great place to come to and definitely will have to stop again before we leave.
From the very start, the service was exceptional. While our waiter was still standing at the table finishing our drink order and introducing the menu, the drinks arrived almost immediately. Attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming.
The edamame was generous and perfectly prepared — a great way to start. For the main course, we ordered the Omakasse Discovery platter (42 pieces), along with an additional 8 pieces of the teenagers’ favorite maki. The sushi was outstanding: beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and full of delicate, well-balanced flavors.
We ended the evening with homemade chocolate fondant for all four of us — the perfect sweet finale to an already fantastic meal.
An exceptional dining experience with both amazing food and impeccable service. Highly recommended — just make sure to book in advance!
From start to finish, SAO delivers on every level. The atmosphere is vibrant and stylish, the service is welcoming and polished, and the food is outstanding. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented — we’re already dreaming of coming back!
Highlights included the perfectly salted Coarse Edamame, fresh and flavorful Miso Soup, an over-the-top delicious Tiger Roll, and the Crying Tiger — tender grilled beef with a spicy sauce and crunchy peanuts that stole the show. We finished with the Mango Crème Brûlée, which was the perfect tropical twist on a classic dessert.
