My husband ordered the chicken marsala and thought it was fantastic. He especially liked the touch of fresh spinach on the side, which he could toss into his pasta to let it gently wilt (a nice idea).
I had the eggplant and sausage pasta, which was a bit less successful. The restaurant was out of the pasta shape listed on the menu (I opted for linguini instead), and the battered, fried eggplant turned quite soft once mixed with the sauce. The dish also had a generous amount of sliced sausage — great if you love sausage, but it threw off the balance for me.
The small side salad was unremarkable but complimentary, so no complaints there. And a fun note: the chef seems to like decorating every plate with a slice of orange!
Overall, a nice spot with excellent service. I’d definitely return to try a different dish next time.
We also ordered the Pollo Copacabana, which arrived on top of extremely soggy French fries. The oil and juices from the dish soaked everything, including the fruit that was added to the plate. A surprise grape when you’re expecting chicken is not ideal, and honestly, we couldn’t even eat it because of how unappetizing the fries were.
On top of that, we were charged $34 for Cupcake wine, which was not what was listed on the menu.
It’s disappointing because we know this place can be great, but it felt like an entirely different cook and experience this time. We will not be back.
Our visit began with a rather awkward welcome. After waiting in line for several minutes, we were finally greeted by a hostess—who also appeared to be serving tables. Her first question was whether we had reservations. We did not, and had we known they were required, we would have gladly returned at a later time. Instead, she followed up by asking if we could finish our entire meal by 7:30 p.m.—a question I have never encountered in any dining establishment. The tone felt abrupt and set an uncomfortable tone for the rest of the visit.
Once seated, our server seemed very new to the role—visibly nervous and, more concerning, extremely rushed. Shortly after, a loaf of bread was brought to the table, but it arrived cold and noticeably stale. When our entrées appeared, the disappointment continued. The pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy, a fundamental misstep for any restaurant, especially one striving for an elevated dining experience.
The atmosphere didn’t help redeem the evening. The music repeatedly started and stopped mid-song, jumping between tracks without ever settling—an oddly distracting soundtrack to an already underwhelming meal. The overall appearance of the wait staff felt unpolished, leaving us unsure whether the restaurant was aiming for a casual quick-service identity or upscale dining. The room itself has potential, but the execution suggests deeper management challenges.
After only a few bites, we made the difficult decision to end our meal early. We paid for what we had ordered out of courtesy, then walked out and headed across the street—where we promptly enjoyed an excellent dinner with attentive service and a far more inviting atmosphere.
Our experience at Santos by Good Fellas was deeply disappointing, and based on this visit, we do not plan to return. Unfortunately, we left having paid for little more than a regrettable dining experience.
