Nothing-fancy deli serving up sandwiches, New York-style pizza, soups, salads & calzones.

People were very nice, menu had a lot of options, and the food is great!
Good ingredients and came out nice and hot! I got the new yorker and curly fries. Hifhly recommend. The place also look fun, very New York theme.

On 8/27/25, I had lunch at this location. It was very unorganized. One person took our order on paper while we were in line, but when we reached the register, the cashier asked for our order again. We told them we had already given it to the other person, so the first employee had to come over and explain our order to the cashier. That was very time-consuming. On top of that, the food was not tasty at all.

THE PHOTO INCLUDED IS AFTER THE RECOOK. On November 20th, I received horrible customer service from Santini’s in Fairfax. I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve been in restaurant management for years (starting from fast casual to fine dining) and have a deep understanding of the proper customer service. The person at the register was rude but overly nice to other customers. I could tell they were judging me yet I’m a loyal customer and not that it should make a difference but also a tipping customer. I paid for extra meat and noticed that my sandwich barely has the regular amount, on top of that the onion rings were greasy, burned, and cold. I mentioned these two things and instead of acknowledging it, they were both argumentative before they even bothered to look at my items to validate my concerns. When I told them, I would take the sub because I saw this conversation wasn’t going anywhere but would like fries due to the state of the onion rings the guy said, “for what? Are you going to pay for them?” I’m asking for fries instead of the onion rings, cheaper in cost. You would think there would be enough sense to offer the fries given their customer isn’t satisfied. The cashier then puts a glove on, unwraps the sub and starts flinging through the sub saying, “no, no, it’s extra!” Though she had on a glove, this is absolutely disgusting behavior. To physically take her fingers through my sub (so now destroyed) is wrong on so many levels. The attitude behind it was nasty but also, when she put on gloves she still had to touch them with her bare unclean (working the register/cash handling) hands. I was disgusted and in complete shock. At that point, I asked to speak the manager. After they walked away and told him what happened (in Spanish not knowing I fully understand), the associate that was at the register came back to the counter telling me the manager wasn’t there and would be back in over 20 minutes. I told her I’d wait and had a seat to wait for him. He appeared about 8-10 minutes later. I explained the situation to him and expressed the lack of customer service that I experienced. He barely said anything, definitely no apology whatsoever. Only thing he said was “what kind of fries” and walks away after I told him any fry. I’m really disappointed in the lack of customer service that I received from Santinis today, especially because I don’t believe this man that I last spoke with to be a supervisor or shift lead, he seems to be the actual store manager (but I could be mistaken), which really sets the tone for why the rest of the team acts that way. If the leader isn’t correct the rest of the team is going to show that. I hope to see better out of Santinis. I am a loyal customer and really enjoy most of the things that I get from here. It would’ve been great to receive the same graciousness and customer service that other customers were given, instead of being reached with the argumentative words and tone that I was met with—unwarranted. I want to make it known that I treat people with the same kindness I expect to get so this situation genuinely hurt me and left a bad impression on this location.
THE PHOTO INCLUDED IS AFTER THE RECOOK. Honestly, this isn’t even extra. Compared to other Santinis or when you go to other sub places and pay for extra meat. The original sub had almost half of this amount of meat.

This was our first time in Santini’s since we keep driving by this place.
To tell you the truth, I wasn’t impressed by the ordering system where for example we didn’t know if we pay now or later.
The person who took the order didn’t say anything and she didn’t seem happy to be working there.
The place seems clean with sports bar vibes mixed with low budget restaurant style decor.
The cashier speaks very little English, barely understood what my husband said when he went to pay the bill and, as it’s usual for him, joked around a little.
After we paid and sat down, the sandwiches arrived quickly, not impressed by the presentation nor the taste. Check out the photos, not enough sauerkraut or coleslaw.
My husband ordered ‘New Yorker’ corn beef and pastrami with melted provolone cheese toasted on rye bread, so little sauerkraut you can barely taste, definitely the cook doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Mine was Steak and Cheese grilled slices of prime rib-eye, provolone cheese, onions, hot peppers, lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise, served on toasted sub roll.
In my sandwich I chose coleslaw, didn’t have enough either and meat was in very small pieces more like ground beef, ‘not grilled slices of prime rib-eye, as described in the menu.
All the sandwiches came with a pickle cut in half and served on a paper plate.
Very poorly presented to customers!
No drinks for us because most of what they have is unhealthy to drink and we had water in the car.
I noticed the employees are always talking among and laughing with themselves, and not acknowledging the customers existence.
At least I saw the cook wearing gloves when preparing our food, but I don’t know if he changes them after touching non-food items. I wonder because after I saw him serving a table coming from the kitchen and talking again with the staff, he then touched other things behind the counter.
Anyway this place or the sandwiches are not even close to the original New York style deli, something I know well because I lived there over a decade and I know the difference.
In New York you normally see Italians or Germans preparing sandwiches with warm, fresh, baked bread, and a balanced or even generous combination of meat and other ingredients.
Not coming back to Santini’s.

When you consistently pay almost 25 dollars for a sandwich: it shouldn’t be burnt. Normally this place is great and much better than the other locations I’ve been to…but for the price and having a doordasher wait so long at the restaurant a new one was assigned? Not worth it. No response from customer service yet… And you added me to your mailing list! Wow. BBB, FTC…
Update: The Reston store is just as bad. This is the second time they have burnt my food so bad it was inedible. The sandwich was slightly burnt and the clazone just crumbled. Despite blocking them, I am still in their emailing list. Still haven’t heard from customer service from my complaint from almost a year ago. Zero quality control. I’ll be posting the FTC report to both.

If you follow and know my reviews.people are slow at this in northern,va Im true about it. New York slices are not tiny
The pizza sucked the dough was not cooked all the way look at picture. The steak and cheese sub was greater than expected but I didn’t see the green peppers I requested. I took it to go . That is why I never went back I was on duty. So for pizza got to Costco big difference 1.99 it is not worth 4.50 for little slice of pizza in this place to pay an arm and a leg. I’ve had better at the Italian store in Arlington and Tony’s New York Pizza in Manassas. So the price is way too high for the quality. There’s no parmesan or crushed red peppers on the tables . That was the first and yes I have been to New York. This place is a knockoff I’m disappointed. Here’s more paying for the image than quality.

Ordered a chicken Philly with extra pickles on the side and for whatever reason they chopped up cucumbers and added it to my sub. Been ordering from here for years, never again.

I’ve been coming here for a while, but I’ve noticed that the quality in their food is not as it used to be. I ordered a Steak and Cheese today and it was more like a cheese melt sandwich, had fun looking for the protein! I mentioned this to the manager and he could care less about it. Their McLean location is always on point, but this Fairfax one is terrible.
