EVERYTHING is British and it creates a fun feel almost like you’re on vacation in G.B. in a little hometown hot spot.
Our food arrived in a timely fashion. It was hot, fresh and very good. Our waitresses were very friendly, attentive and kept our drinks filled. They’re recommendations of what to eat were helpful.
The bartender was friendly and poured our drinks perfectly. Very good. Fun to talk with.
Overall experience was very good and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for something fun, different and unique.
Next I had the British fish n chips with curry side. 10 out of 10. The curry is so rich in complex flavors, adds a real punch to your taste buds. Fish was crispy. Chips were so tasty and steak fries were perfectly seasoned.
Next was the western burger, this was huge, with thick cut bacon, onion rings. Great overall first experience, this is a hidden gem in Salem. I can’t wait to try the other dishes.
Will return to gather more intel
The food was very good, everyone enjoyed their meal, including a fairly picky child. Everything tasted great and was fresh and well prepared.
Atmosphere was good as well and the place is very cool with lots of British decor and style, so it is a unique and fun spot, especially for Salem.
Also the lady who ran food and cleared plates was amazing and very friendly and kind.
Now the bad:
The bar tender (woman with some color in her hair, purple or grey streak if I remember? I didn’t get her name, though I doubt she’d even have told me if I asked) was horrible. She had the worst attitude and literally corrected people when they ordered (“you don’t need to tell me it’s on the happy hour menu”) and really hurt the overall experience. She also missed inputting an order (you have to order at the bar and we had a large group, so we literally made a list of our order and read it to her) so one person had to wait on their food while everyone else ate.
If not for the quality of food and the other employee, I am fairly certain we’d have just left.
Long story short, really cool spot, good food, but hopefully the bartender is having a better day next time. Unfortunate she was such a negative for a group spending $100+ on food and drinks and she doesn’t even have to bring the food or ever go to the tables. I hope they tip the runner better than her.
My Dad and I ordered the Haddock fish and chips and my mouth is drooling from the memory. The crunch on the batter is superior and the fish itself was like butter. I used lemon, vinegar and their house tartar sauce. It was all good on the fish, I don’t even like tatter sauce- ew just mayo and pickles- but THEIR tartar sauce doesn’t even compare to traditional sauces. I almost ordered something else but dang, sure glad I spent the extra few dollars on the real deal. Order this dish if you love fish and chips! You will not be disappointed.
The vibes were cool once we sat down, felt a little understaffed in the beginning, but we were sat within 10 minutes of arriving. You order from the bar once you’ve decided and they serve it to you. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with ordering.
There’s an amazing chill room here for people who want to lounge with their drinks. I imagine they use the space for events also, but I loved all the cozy armchairs.
There’s also a pool table and different types of seating available (bar tops/booths/tables/patio).
It’s very British themed and fun to visit. My dad and I were calling each other blokes and what not.
It’s a proper, no-bullshit pub tucked away in an unassuming spot—a true gem. Step inside and you’ve crossed the pond. It’s U.K. through and through, right down to the little details, like the Doctor Who Police Box standing guard. It’s a place where they honor tradition, but they know how to have a good time—it’s the best spot to catch the Portland Timbers when they’re playing, bringing that proper football fever to Salem.
Now, let’s talk about the food, specifically the Fish and Chips. This isn’t some frozen, sad little fillet. What they put in front of you is a glorious monument to fried seafood. The portion is frankly enormous, but quantity doesn’t sacrifice quality. The batter is a perfectly executed dance of thick yet light crunch. The flake of the fish is clean, and it’s cooked exactly right. But the secret weapon, the thing that makes you want to climb the walls, is that house-made tartar sauce. It’s creamy, zesty, and it is to die for.
The people running the joint—the staff—are personable and clearly proud of the work they do. This isn’t just another brewpub; it’s an anchor, a perfect little slice of Britain dropped into Salem. Get the fish and chips, grab a pint, and settle in. You’ve found a new home away from home. Five stars, no question.
Portland Timbers on TV.
Viscerally satisfying Brewers Pie…meat, cheese, exceptional crust.
Fun staff.
Cool vibe.
4 beers on cask.
Service has also changed since the last time we were there. The “S” definitely doesn’t stand for service anymore you now have to order at the bar, and they no longer come to your table like they used to. If you want refills, you have to get up and take care of it yourself.
At one point I asked about a refill and was told there’s a water station, which honestly made the whole experience feel pretty impersonal. It doesn’t really feel like a place that values service or tips anymore.
Overall, it was a disappointing visit. Between the cold food and the lack of service, I’d honestly rather just stay home and make breakfast myself next time.
