Still as great as it was before…I’ve had dinner, lunch, brunch here multiple times and at several of their locations. This trip included a perfect cappuccino and a delicious flaky croissant with apricot jam. The service has always been top notch. The quality has never disappointed. It can be pricey depending on what you get, but not one experience felt overpriced. I hadn’t been in a while and was a little nervous that like many places this might have lost a little magic, was thrilled to discover its as good as ever. Looking forward to returning.

Super buona. Closest thing to true Milanese food I’ve found in NYC (da vero) The vitello tonnato was my favorite of everything we ate. My table also split 3 pastas, each was really good. I think I preferred the vongole the most. Had a perfect negroni, a very well priced nebbiolo and finished everything of with a glass of Braulio. The tiramisu was fantastic and the principessa cake reminded me a bit of the cake from Marchesi (almost). Highly recommend.

What a wonderful Italian spot in the west village. Service was tops and the food and wine were incredible. I will be thinking about the cacio e pepe for a long time and will definitely visit again the next time I’m in NYC.

Since 2016 I am visiting St. Ambrosus West V. And don’t know why I feel like this but like I was born in that lovely Italian restaurant. I live in Istanbul and that’s why I am used to mediterrenian and europen taste and in Usa I can not find original tastes and hospitality in restaurants, everything is so fake and ridiculous except Sant Ambroeus. When I visit that cozy restaurant; I find original Italian taste and hospitality. Everyone is so kind. Everything is perfect. Even I go without reservation or a laat call, they try to do their best unlike other restaurants.

Pretty amazing Italian restaurant in the west village. Inside and outside seating on a relatively quiet street. The interior is very nicely decorated, lightly good and balanced. Full bar, however fairly small. Found all dishes to be really well prepared and plated. Deserts are not too sweet but just right. Reservations suggested. Highly recommended.

I have been eating at Sant Ambroeus for years. I usually love the food and the service. So when a friend and I were walking through the west village last Sunday, I was thrilled. We arrived around 4pm without a reservation. At first, the maitre’d turned his back and ignored us while talking with a kitchen employee for about five minutes. When I asked a server who was passing, who we could speak to about a table, they motioned to him, and he still asked us to “Hold on a minute…” When he finally addressed us, he asked if we had a reservation. I said we did not, but that we would be happy with inside or outside seating. We had seen some empty tables for two when we walked up. He stated that the next reservation would not be until 8:30pm(?) I asked that he put in my name for that reservation and text/call if there were any earlier openings. As we left and walked up Perry Street, we counted at least four open two tops. We stopped to see if we could possibly make a reservation online. Then the maitre ‘d came running out to say there had “just been a cancelation”….. and we were seated outside. We placed drink and food orders, but bread service was Not offered until we ordered entrées. I understand that this is a new unspoken practice that some restaurants have adopted post-pandemic. However, it seemed odd in my experience with them. We were interested in the roasted whole fish for two on special, which we were told was black cod. However, when we actually ordered it, we were told it was red snapper(?). When I asked about the cod, I was told, “oh yeah….there is one left..” The fish was ultimately presented to us and taken to a table some yards away for fileting. I had an unobstructed view of the waitstaff as they prepared our fish and saw that it was abruptly taken from the sideboard. Another server came and told us that the fish was “underdone” and needed to be re-fired, so they took it back to the kitchen. It was almost twenty minutes before we received our plates with the pre-plated fish. During the meal, I was drinking limoncello. My second pour was significantly shorter than the first. When I brought it to the servers’ attention, she agreed and removed it from the bill. However, the bartender/barback should have caught this and resolved it before the glass reached the table. Although the food was good, the service was mediocre at best. The vitello tonnato was amazing as usual….one of my favourite dishes on the menu. It is unfortunate that the service is not as consistent as the food. My disappointment was reflected in the gratuity.

This is a really cute and cozy place. You can have a coffee, a cocktail, a dessert or take a table and eat a meal. I like the interior design, a mix of modern and old fashioned cafe. It really has that italian vibe. I like the treatment we had and even if it should be like this everywhere, not always happens. When we ordered two glasses of Ca’ del Bosco Franciacorta the bartender opened a new bottle and asked if we want to try it before. I really appreciated it a lot! The cakes were good too. Bravi!!
