Absolutely the best South Indian breakfast spot in Newcastle!
I visited Sanskrit Breakfast recently and was blown away by the authentic taste and warm hospitality. The idlis were soft and fluffy, dosas perfectly crisp with golden texture, vadas crunchy on the outside and soft inside, and the chutneys & sambar tasted just like home in India. They even serve special items like junnu (a rare traditional sweet) which you won’t easily find anywhere else in the UK.
The portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and everything is freshly prepared in front of you. The staff are friendly, explain the dishes if you’re new to South Indian food, and genuinely care about quality.
If you’re craving authentic Telugu/Tamil style tiffins, or if you’ve never tried South Indian breakfast before, this is the place you must visit. It’s not just food, it’s an experience. Definitely a hidden gem in Newcastle and a spot I’ll be coming back to regularly.
Highly recommend everyone to try – especially the Butter Idly, Mysore Bonda, and Cheese Masala Dosa.

We were craving for some good south Indian breakfast came across Sanskrit. Definitely lived up to our expectations – they have recent started breakfast menu. Dosa’s were lovely and bursting with flavours. Peaceful ambience and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Staff did mention that they are doing Andhra based cuisine and aiming to start thali menu for lunch soon. Would highly recommend to try this place if around Newcastle. Would love to come back again and try their other dishes. Street parking available.

The Breakfast at Sanskrit, is most authentic South Indian food I have had in a very long time.The sambhar, chutney, idli, vada dosa was amazing.The coffee is classic authentic Coorg coffee.The hunger and taste took over our will to take a picture.
Coming to the dessert,most surprising dessert ‘Junnu’. A homemade dessert never available at restaurants. I had it in my childhood before discovering it at Sanskrit.

Amazing flavours, complex spices and just the right amount of heat. Not a large menu in terms of choices, but what they create is made to the highest possible standards. This is different to other Indian Restaurants with emphasis on authentic ‘Street Food’ that is extremely flavourful. Only opened in August and keen to impress. Wife and I received great personal advice on menu options and flavour combinations. Great attention to detail and excellent service. Overall, this is the best Indian restaurant in Gosforth in my opinion.

Such a great flavourful curry. Lamb bhuna was tender and tasty, even the extra oil wasn’t problematic as it tasted so good. Chicken jalfrezi had loads of flavour. Both had a nice level of spice/ hotness. Speedy delivery.

Visited for breakfast this morning and had a delicious South Indian Breakfast Platter not too spicy but you can ask for more spice if you prefer. Worth every penny. Server was very helpful and advised on variety of different Dosa’s. Will be visiting this restaurant again. Try you will not be disappointed.
