The Vibe:
This spot sits in a strip center near the airport, so there’s not a ton of atmosphere — it does feel a little sterile, to be honest. That said, it was spotless, which I really appreciate when traveling.
Service:
Service was exactly what I expected: friendly, efficient, and no fuss. You order at the counter, grab a number, and they bring the food out to your table. Nothing particularly memorable, but also nothing to complain about — just smooth and easy, which was exactly what I wanted after a flight.
Food & Drinks:
I went with the Salmon Bowl over brown rice and added the Sumi Salad on the side. The presentation was clean, and everything tasted fresh, though the flavors were pretty mild. The teriyaki sauce was standard, and the Sumi Salad — while crisp — didn’t have much personality beyond the crunch. (It’s cabbage, carrots, green onions, almonds, sesame seeds, and crispy noodles with their house dressing.) The brown rice was fine, and I stuck with water since I was rehydrating post-flight.
Overall:
It definitely hit the spot for what I needed — a quick, healthy lunch before catching my train down to San Diego. I know there are several SanSai Grill locations around LA, and while I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit one, I wouldn’t hesitate to stop in again if I were nearby. Clean, convenient, and solid — just not one that leaves a lasting impression.
We ordered using the kiosk, which was super convenient. It showed pictures of the dishes, so we knew exactly what we were getting. The system was easy to use and even let us customize our ordered, loved that part!
We got the Katsu Sandwich with fries (no veggies) and it was delicious. The fries were nice and crispy, and the sandwich was flavorful. We also had the Philadelphia Roll and some sushi, which were fresh and well-prepared. My favorite was the poke bowl it was outstanding!
Pickup was easy, too they send you updates straight to your phone. Plus, the location is super convenient, right near the airport and perfect for a stop before a flight. We sat outside and enjoyed a relaxing mountain view. Great food, great vibes I’d definitely come back!
I also tried the California Roll, which was fresh but unfortunately pretty dull. It didn’t have much flavor and felt like it was missing that extra something to make it stand out. While nothing was bad, the flavors just didn’t wow me. Despite that, the portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh, making it a good choice for a quick and casual meal. I’d go back, but I’d probably try something different next time!
We kept coming back, and whatever we tried was perfection!
Best part, if you there is an ingredient that you cannot/don’t want to have in your sushi, they easily remove it for you and are very friendly answering all your questions!
