Just visiting and I fell in love with the staff. The staff is so nice and has some great suggestions for food places in the area. They make delicious drinks and shots just taste sweeter with how nice the staff are. They have an area in front for smokers and vapors. The place is really clean and thw bathrooms didnt smell. If you are solo you will make friends and if you have a group then your group will grow. I absolutely lovveee this place! I would travel back to Ventura just to see the staff again!

Great Dive. Rad bartenders. Great vibes. Bob Seger playing as well walked in. My favorite part was the cuck chair in the bathroom.

Its a small hole in the wall. 5 stools at bar and 3 booths to sit at behind. Very old with red light bulbs shinning. More security than customers.
Really friendly locals. Bartenders really nice recommended places to eat. He was spot on. Drinks were very generous while people all talked to each other even though they didn’t know each other.

This dive bar had such a cool vibe going on when I arrived. I was amazed! It was mid-day on a Friday and the place had many friendly patrons come in for a drinks while I was there. Check this place out, across the street from the Ventura Theater!

This is an awesome watering hole in the heart of Ventura. A fun perk is if you have a craving for pizza while tossing back drinks and socializing with friends, Jimmy slice will heat up a pie and send it on over. San Souci is located towards the West end of the downtown area surrounded by awesome shops and restaurants, and sits directly across from The Majestic Ventura Theater. Your ears will get a treat with live music performance every night, but the place can get crowded, so be sure to arrive a little early if you want to find a seat. There’s a patio to enjoy some fresh air, and it’s the perfect environment to sit back, relax, and enjoy the fresh ocean air. Be sure to say hi to the owners, Sande and Jim, as they’re lovely people with huge hearts.

Although the place is not too big, music was fantastic and beer is good.

I come here on the weekends & have never had a bad thing to say about this place, until “Hannah” was our “bartender” last night. I stood there looking dumb for almost an hour trying to get a drink, I even had other patrons concerned/ wondering why I was being ignored- & even offered to order for me. I’m extremely patient & even told them it was fine since it was picking up and getting busier. But then it just became blatantly obvious she was ignoring ONLY us for some reason? I was just trying to celebrate my boyfriends birthday/st paddys day and she completely ruined our night, & ruined a place for me that I LOVED coming to with groups of friends. It really just made us uncomfortable and feel unwelcome, when the sewer has always been a go to. she made us feel like we did something wrong just for being there.. and when I finally did get a drink (that she purposely overcharged me for) i still tipped for her bad service.

We had just come from Limón Y Sal, they called last call. It was 1:28am on my bday, right away we tried to go in and said we couldn’t come in, BUT They don’t close until 2am… really? I get entre busy but as first time customers I’ll never try coming again, not a fan of places that treat customers like that. I wouldn’t even give them 1 star… haha 🙂

This place has been around since I was a kid. It’s Def a dive bar so don’t expect high class. However most weekends have live music or a DJ and the bar tenders are good. If you looking for a less than classy night out this is the best spot in Downtown.
