Reviews
Also ordered Bengal fish curry and butter chicken, the butter chicken had only 6 small pieces, and both curries seemed to have the same gravy.
Food quality was disappointing and overpriced.
Service was fast and good though.
A few months ago, we tried the Southern River branch and all of us got sick. We ignored it at the time, thinking sometimes these things happen. Last night, we decided to try the Westminster location. Our mistake was not checking the reviews first, which we normally always do.
We ordered a Virgin Mojito, which was full of sugar syrup — honestly the worst one I’ve ever had. I informed the staff and they remade it, but it still wasn’t good. I didn’t complain further as the restaurant was busy and I thought maybe the staff was new or under training.
We ordered two Masala Dosas. The batter was dry, undercooked on the sides, and extremely salty. We decided not to complain because we just wanted to enjoy our dinner.
Then we ordered Amritsari Fish — the excessive red food colouring and undercooked fish completely ruined our night and our money.
For takeaway, we ordered Chilli Garlic Naan and Kaju Masala Paneer. Surprisingly, we were given Cheese Naan instead. My husband clearly asked twice if they had Chilli Garlic Naan. We do not eat cheese naan at all. The curry had no proper taste or balance — it was just plain chilli and nothing else.
Not a single staff member came to check if everything was okay or if we needed anything else, yet we saw them checking on other tables. It felt like they were not interested in taking our order carefully or serving us properly.
Finally, I decided to complain to the front staff. She initially said they would not charge for 2x dosa.
It was a wrong decision to come to this restaurant.

Finally, I decided to complain to the front staff. She initially said they would not charge us for the two dosas. After speaking to the chef, she came back and said the chef claimed the dosa was cooked and that the fish could be refried if we wanted. The chef also said we had already eaten the dosa.
Dosa batter was not fresh.
I want to clarify — we came here mainly to eat dosa. We did not have time to keep complaining and wait for replacements. We had already waited 30 minutes even after placing the order over the phone. We accepted it as a bad experience, but how can we compromise on the mojito, fish, curry, and wrong naan?
We were seated right in front of the kitchen door and could hear the staff talking about us at the counter, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
The chef needs to be more practical and careful about what is being cooked and served. The staff clearly needs better training.
Overall, $127 wasted and our night completely spoiled.
We ordered dosa and paneer curry, and both dishes were beautifully presented and full of authentic flavors. The dosa was perfectly crisp, and the chutneys were fresh and delicious. The portion sizes were generous, and everything tasted freshly prepared.
Overall, it’s a fantastic place for authentic Indian food and a relaxed dining experience in Perth.
Ordered Goat Biryani over the phone for takeaway. Changed my mind and went there for dine in. Could not even finish half of it. First thing, I know how goat tastes like so it was not a goat. Secondly, it was just a mix of cooked rice with that so called goat meat without any spices. It was literally like meat and rice.
Anyway, saving grace was that my dish was REALLY yummy, a black pepper(Kali mitch) chicken curry. Flavour was outstanding and the chicken was melt in your mouth delicious! It turned an initially sour night into a great one, for me at least! Would definitely recommend the dish, one of my favourite renditions of a pepper curry and curry overall.
P.S – I may consdier to do it takeaway to avoid the aforementioned risks!
Another P.S – Staff were nice still, just frustrating with the timing side as it’s been 3 times over the last 5-8 years I can remember coming here (say 5-6 occassions).
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
Unfortunately, Sankalp Indian turned out to be one of those rare experiences where walking out mid-meal felt like the only option.
What Went Wrong:
❌ Poor Service – It took multiple attempts for the staff to get the order right, which set the tone for a frustrating visit.
❌ Questionable Food Quality – The dosa batter tasted off, and the pav bhaji was equally unpalatable. It felt like either the chef wasn’t present or something had gone seriously wrong in the kitchen.
❌ Uneaten Plates – It takes a lot for me to leave food behind, but this was one of those rare occasions.
Final Verdict:
This was far from what you’d expect from a restaurant representing Indian cuisine. I would strongly recommend giving this place a miss—there are far better Indian dining options available.
