My family members have always loved this place. The few times I have had the food there was much to be desired. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and fries twice, and recently the steak and cheese sub and a salad with Italian dressing. The bacon cheeseburger is plain tasting and the buns have always felt/tasted stale even though we have to wait extra time once we get there to pick up our order. This time, the steak and cheese sub was actually kind of tasty but still on stale bread. I ordered a “Greek salad” but when we got home realized it did not have any feta cheese, had 2 olives and was quite small. The “Italian dressing” we ordered I took a picture of. It looked like old dishwater but I braved it and did a taste test.. it burned my tongue and roof of mouth….Im pretty sure it was just lemon, water and olive oil with some kind of mystery particles. So I had to make my own dressing as that weird stuff wasn’t edible. My family members all love the food from this place, especially their fries. I dont like the fries because they feel dense and stale.

First stopped here years ago, across from Sandston library. Wow! Best burger and fries. Go for the 1/2lb. Great selection, imagine all will be great. This time added hand squeezed limeade, wow, so good! Watched gal scoop tons of chocolate ice cream for shakes, next time I’ll order. Looked great! Casual inside, nothing fancy but great food. Swift take out business.

Sandston bistró happily welcomed our tour bus filled with 50 people. It was about 8pm on a Thursday night and they worked tirelessly to fulfill all of our orders. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and it was the best Greek salad I have ever had! The Italian dressing was home made and the chicken was seasoned and grilled to order. I found out that the owner makes everything fresh and takes pride in the quality of his ingredients. If I lived here I would make the extra trip to eat at this bistro every week. It’s that good!!

I probably would never give this place a chance if I was just driving by. The exterior was newly painted but the building wasn’t standing out. However, if 984 people rated Sandston Bistro & Shakes 4.6 stars; I got to give it a try. I took my group here for lunch after reading all the positive reviews. The lunch averaged about $13 a person. It is really not bad consider we each either had a milkshake, smoothie, or combo meal added to our lunch selections. You can get a really good sandwich, sub or burger for less than $6.50. They have earned their reputation not due to the low price, they truly serve good quality food and ice cream. I really enjoyed the Steak & Cheese Sub that I have ordered with a side of French Fries. The Sirloin, provolone cheese and grill onion mixture was not runny like a lot of places, the bun stayed dry and intact. The meat had a very good flavor; it was one of the best Steak & Cheese Sub that I had in a long time. The French Fries was nice and crunchy. Someone from my group ordered Baked Homemade Lasagna, it was served with two slices of Garlic Bread. He said the Lasagna was really good, but the Garlic Bread was the best. The person had the Club Sandwich raved about his food. Sandston Bistro & Shake really paid attention to everything that they serve. All the tables in the dining room are the same size, four of us squeezed into a small booth. We all had a good time and really enjoyed our food.
Shortly after 12 PM, the line got really long and wrapped around to the back of the dining room. Two cashiers were quick and calm. We barely waited before they took our order. Food came very quickly despite how busy they are.
If you are in the mood for a 6″ or 12″ Subs, freshly made Sandwiches, Hamburgers, Salad, and Pastas; you should give this place a try. There is a big selection of ice cream await for you too!

Absolutely loved it, wife had the cheesesteak I had the chili dog and we both had fries got a special order chicken patty for my son since he doesn’t do gluten and fries we all love the food. Each got a scoop of ice cream afterwards also amazing I am so glad we stopped in there. Great folks absolutely great next time we’re in the area we will stop by and try some more food thank you all very much!

This place is reliably delicious. I love the burgers! The owner is clearly passionate about his business. I know what to expect when I go and I’m never disappointed. I also like that you can not only get ice cream with your meal, but you can also get a larger size to take home.

You can’t go wrong with visiting this bistro. They have something for everyone and you can’t go wrong with whatever you order. The staff is super friendly and the always serve you with a smile. After countless visits I ordered a chicken salad sandwich (kept it cute this time). If you’re a fan of sherbet freeze….order one here!
