We ordered biscuits and gravy with sausage and egg, a 2-egg meal with hash browns and bacon, 2 pancakes, and a diet coke with hot tea. The biscuits and gravy were very bland, as if there was no flavor in them. Sometimes when I eat out, the gravy is delicious with little pieces of sausage, but there was none here. The bacon was well-cooked, but the pancakes were good and not too sweet. The presentation of food looks great, but wasn’t so great.
The service was poor and did not feel welcoming at all. I got my hot tea with a torn bag, no spoon, and 2 honey. I tried to wave down the waitress, but she overlooked our table. We were given food with no silverware and I had to be more direct. It is a tiny cute place, but not really worth the time if you’re hungry and love the quality of food.
This area is not wheelchair accessible/ friendly. There is a tight door entrance.
I am submitting this complaint regarding a recent experience with Sandra’s Place involving an incorrect food order and the refusal by management to correct the issue.
While traveling through the area, we chose to support a local establishment rather than a chain restaurant. We placed a phone order for six handheld breakfast burritos as follows:
Three (3) potato, cheese, and egg
One (1) beans and egg
One (1) red chili bacon
One (1) green chili
All Handheld, no other words were used to mislead the order taker as handheld were requested and placed.
Upon receiving the order, it was clear that it had been prepared incorrectly. Only one burrito was ordered with beans; however, each burrito was provided with a side of beans. Additionally, two burritos were prepared “smothered,” despite the fact that the term “smothered” was never mentioned during the ordering process. Because of the added beans and sauce, the burritos were soggy and not prepared as handheld items as requested.
When we contacted the manager and staff to address the mistake, the staff member who initially took the order appeared apologetic. However, the manager running the kitchen refused to correct the order, remake the food, or offer any refund — not even a partial refund to account for the errors. Instead of taking accountability for what was clearly a miscommunication or kitchen error, the manager became argumentative and focused on defending her position of “Being right” rather than resolving the issue professionally. She spoken with anger, justifying her supporting reason and I advised her I was going to dispute the charge with my bank as the call was recorded and the transcript will be provided to the BBB for further Action.
The conversation was confrontational and lacked the professionalism one would expect from someone managing an establishment. Rather than offering a reasonable solution — such as remaking the burritos properly, rewrapping them as handheld items, or issuing a partial refund — the manager refused all requests and declined to take responsibility for the mistake.
We spent $78 on six burritos that were not prepared as ordered. As customers, we were simply seeking a fair resolution. A business should be willing to correct its mistakes and prioritize customer service. Unfortunately, that did not occur in this situation.
I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed and that the business be encouraged to address customer service standards, accountability practices, and appropriate management conduct. No customer should be met with argument and refusal when a clear order discrepancy has occurred.
I will get in contact with the owner to advise them how we were treated and what had happen to prevent others from experiencing what we experienced,
To sum up things, the food was top-notch, servers were all good & personable, the place was clean, and half full of locals as far as I knew. I ordered the chorizo and eggs W/2 tortillas which was cooked to order. Superb meal and good value. Will stop here again…
Bottom Line: 9.2 out of 10
Coming down route, 66 lots of businesses were closed. But this little hole in the wall place had killer reviews…. so we had to check it out … and boy… we were not disappointed.!!
