A Classic Beachside Treat — Just Like I Remember It

The Snack Shack at City Beach in Sandpoint is one of those timeless spots that brings back so many great memories.

I used to come here as a younger teenager, (I moved to Maui when I was 15) and it still has that fun, casual beach vibe that makes it a favorite for families, kids, (Teens) and anyone spending a day by the water.

They’ve got a barbecue setup outside and it looks like they grill their burgers and hot dogs fresh — I had a hot dog, and it was impressively long and tasty! A bit heavy on the ketchup and mustard (I needed about six napkins), but overall it was good food at a great price. I also grabbed a soda and was happy to see both fountain drinks and cold bottled options in the fridge.

The ice cream prices were super reasonable — kids cones starting at just $2, $4 for a single scoop, and up from there. A nice variety to choose from, and perfect for that quick treat on a hot day.

It was fun watching the beach crowd, with kids doing what I remember doing — running up for ice cream or snacks, then running back to their families by the water. There are also a couple of picnic tables out front, which is convenient if you want to sit and enjoy your food before heading back to the sand.

If you’re spending the day at City Beach, don’t miss the Snack Shack — it’s simple, affordable, and packed with those classic summer vibes. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Sandpoint!

We stopped at the Sandy Beach Snack Shack while on our family vacation in Idaho, and it was the perfect beach treat! The snacks were great, and the ice cream was absolutely delicious — such a fun way to enjoy a sunny day at the beach. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We loved how convenient it was to walk right from the sand to the snack shack and back again. It made the whole beach day even more enjoyable. A must-visit spot if you’re spending time at Sandy Beach, Idaho!

We love the snack shack! Great good (hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs), yummy treats (ice cream, snow cones, drinks, snack), awesome people (the Watson’s are the best!), and the most beautiful view in Sandpoint! It allows us to stay at the beach all day without having to worry about packing snacks and lunches for everyone.

Asked to have a sugar free drink syrup on shaved ice and they wouldn’t do it!

Someone should tell the guy working in here that the whole point of wearing food service gloves is that you’re not also touching everything else in the place with those gloves. He touched the food, my credit card, the cash register, and his face with the food service gloves on his hands. Gross.
