Sandpiper is no longer open for buffet. They do not want to open the dining room and pay servers, if you’re looking for a place to go eat in the dining room, this is not it?
This is strictly a carry out only restaurant. You drive up, tell them what you want, Wait in your car, and they will bring it to you, BS.
IF I GO OUT TO EAT, I WANT TO GO OUT. SIT DOWN AND ENJOY MY MEAL. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE, the owner needs to sell to someone who will open As a restaurant, as it should be with open dinning room and buffet.
Food quality, taste has gone down hill tremendously ever since they closed back when covid took over.

Ever since they stopped the buffet it’s been an absolutely embarrassing curbside eyesore… my family enjoyed this restaurant for 20+ years now it’s worth the Smithfield price for better quality of food. They’re no longer competitive against other family restaurants blocks away from their front door. Fullers, Smithfield BBQ, grandsons to name a few. They’ve become nothing in an area they were the cream of the crop. I hope owners consider bringing the buffet and passion back or please close the doors. The old man is rolling in his grave for what you’ve done with the decades of hard work.

This is our first time to eat here. The food was hot and delicious. My favorites are the homemade mashed potatoes and gravy and, fried chicken, cabbage (I loved the fact it is shredded), okra & tomatoes, beef liver & onions in gravy, yeast rolls, fried trout and the homemade apple crisp with ice cream.
I enjoyed the food and we will be back.

When I lived in the area 11+ years ago, this was one of my favorite restaurants. So when I had a chance to come back it was high on my list to visit. It didn’t disappoint.
I didn’t care for the ribs, but enjoyed pretty much everything else including the fried pork chop, baby shrimp, sweet chili chicken, and the fixins. Desert was great too. Enjoyed a tiny bit of banana pudding and peach cobbler. Both were excellent.
The place was clean and the staff was friendly. It was a little toasty though. More AC please.

It’d be nice to sit inside and enjoy the buffet. Food doesn’t taste the same either. Not worth it to me. Survey asks how quickly you waited for a table. They don’t do that. Why would they still ask that?

I really wish they would bring back the buffet. This is what made the place a great go to restaurant. Now its just a regular place. They still call themself a buffet even though no buffet in their.

The fact this place still calls itself ‘Sandpiper Buffet,’ hasn’t been one for years, has an entire building for seating, huge parking lot for parking, and only uses the drive-thru, signifies greed. Do better people.
