We went here on a quiet Vantentines day afternoon. The place is in a nice, quiet location and the building and deck are very nice. The food was great and all of the wait staff was very friendly. I will stress, the food was excellent! I had a great fish fry and we also had some crab cakes which were top notch. We were able to be in and out in about an hour or less and the experience was great. They were setting up for a romantic Valentine’s day evening and even had a live violinist preparing for a performance. I will be going back here in the future for the food and live entertainment. I would 100% recommend this place if in the Lake Hickory area.

9 of us decided to go here for dinner since it was close to home and because it was beautiful outside..we sat outside. 2 other tables ( couple people) 3 or 4 tables inside. Not busy at all. Our server was nice. We all ordered drinks which probably took 10 minutes to get. Should never had took that long..then we ordered..we waited waited waited for our food..almost an hour for our food, there was No reason why it should of took that long. It wasnt even busy!!! Had to go in and ask where our food is.Ticket time should of been 12 15 minutes.
Even saw a couple come in and was seated outside and never was greeted or waited on, they got up and walked out.Not sure what the problem is there but I suggest they get their act together or they will be looking for trouble.There doing something wrong, they should be busy but then on the other hand if the service and the ticket time of the food is poor I understand why no one will go there.Our server was very nice but it took her over 15 minutes to get our checks..the way she wrote down our order then tryed to to place them per couple wasnt working..we were all standing waiting for our tabs. Being a server all my life and watching her write our orders down I new she was going to have a problem .I dont believe I would ever go back again. Food was just ok

Good selection of good and drinks. On the lake so great views. Nice outdoor seating. Live music is a plus. Service can be iffy. Been there several times. Staff is pleasant but always new servers so I don’t fault them too much.

Came with my family, very accommodating and kid friendly. The general manager is very hands on, which I think is great since he is very friendly and has a great personality. The ambiance and setting are amazing – covered out door seating overlooking the lake. The portions are very large and the food was excellent! Catfish strips were outstanding – my wife said it was some of the best fish she’s had at a restaurant. Their fries are addictive – not like any fries we’ve had at restaurants before, and the kids Loved the Mac and cheese! The Brussel sprout appetizer was very big and very well executed! Wings and burger were also great! Overall it was a great experience and we look forward to coming back!

I want to thank you ladies that worked 12/28, we were out on the boat freezing our butts off not catching any fish and sent mom in for some coffee and she came out with three deli bowls of the best coffee on earth. I asked about the bowls and she told me you didn’t have any go cups for coffee but you sweet girls found a way! Absolute top tier service and we will definitely be back any time we’re near Icard dam!

It was very cold outside, and not many people were there when we got there. Chima (I hope I spelled it right) was a delightful addition to our time there. He was our server. We had the nachos with queso and a Quesada (tomato gave it a red appearance but very tasty.

First time ever eating here this morning. Nice staff, and lemme tell you that carolina burger was amazing from the chili and burger well seasoned and freaking huge. Only thing was fries were a bit freezer burned but I wasn’t going for fries. Everything else was amazing! Including the fish and chips

Beer was cold and weather was really nice, that’s about it for the positive. Worst service I’ve ever experienced, felt like I was a burden and they couldn’t get me out fast enough. “Would you like ketsup or anything?” is pretty standard but no asked. Still had 2 “fries” on my plate and waitress asked if she could take my plate, as she’s grabbing it, and if I was ready for the check. About 2 min after the check was brought over she asked if it was ready. And no they weren’t busy. Definitely won’t go back.

Sadly, they have made changes in the past few months that are not for the better. My original post (see below) was a 5 ⭐ across the board!
First the positive: They have opened up the area for more inside seating. They have added more nights with live music. They don’t ask for you to pay the nominal fee of $1 a year any longer.
Now my sincerest opinion of our last experience: We came on a Thursday to avoid the live music on the weekends because our son is Autistic and can’t tolerate the extra noise and stimulation. Since the new changes they now have Jazz on Thursdays, but it wasn’t posted on their Google listing. It was lovely to my ears but not his.
It seems all the awesome original staff is no longer there. The younger staff seemed inexperienced, but pleasant.
The menu has been trimmed down to very few options. The ones they did keep, they’ve changed the ingredients and are not prepared the same way. I was very disappointed how their new version of the Reuben was. I didn’t realize it didn’t have the sauerkraut on it any longer, which is the star of the sandwich. It came with Cole slaw instead. The rye bread was the same but it didn’t have the same buttery grilled taste. The corned beef was folded and flattened into a thick square not piled like it used to be which actually makes it taste better.
The Bruschetta was tasty, although, the bread was slightly overly toasted, and to get one slice of bread for $14 was over priced.
The Pretzel Bites tasted freezer burned and the beer cheese was rubbery and not flavorful.
The chicken sandwich was okay, but the chicken breast was very thin. The first that came with it are the same, but didn’t taste the same. They were under cooked and didn’t have the same season salt it used to. P.S., the menu doesn’t specify that certain meals come with french fries.
I hope the Management reads this and considers reimplementing some of the great things that we came to know and love about this place before it was recently changed. I know our family used to love to come here when the menu had more options, the food was prepared top notch, and the waiters were exceptional. Until it more closely resembles what we came to love, we won’t be back. I’m sure there are others that feel the same way.
