This bar has been here for decades, came here as a kid with my parents & now whenever I’m in the neighborhood. Place seems to have been updated and it sure needed it. Stopped in for lunch, burgers are real good, service was excellent, cold beer, just a nice friendly “up north” experience. I’ll be back… again.

Definitely a small-town bar.
Nothing spectacular or terrible here; just a decent place for the locals to go to. Just about average in every way. I suppose the old fashioned juke box with the flip pages is worthy of mention, if that’s your thing – and I think it offered 3 plays for a dollar.
Other than that, this bar is a pretty predictable old-school ‘up north’ bar. Low ceilings, somewhat dim lighting, seemingly local regulars who seem to know the staff, and pretty decent food that’ll fill your stomach at decently average prices.

New owners and it shows. Friendly, small town corner bar with burgers, fries, salads and pizza etc. Had the Sand Lake Burger, which was delicious and cooked exactly as ordered. Real French fries, not the coated fries. Recommend the Antipasto Salad. Pizza was fantastic! Good service, will return.

We’re building a house right up the road from sand lake bar so decided to try their takeout. Everything was ready to go in the timeframe she gave us. They forgot NOTHING, which is a huge plus when you’re taking it to a jobsite. The staff was friendly, the food was hot and it was affordable I’ll be back. Thanks, Lenny Svanberg

Love that the new owners now except cards with a 3% charge but still convenient! It’s about time. Wish they’d bring the fresh pork rinds back

Picture this scenario…. My family and I were camping in Oscoda and got rained out on one of our final nights. We were in dire need of a dry place to plan our escape and take a break from camping meals. Hotdogs, beans/weinies ect. Our GPS was acting up from the storm so we were sorta driving around blindly. We drive about 8 miles and find a local bar. It was an unassuming building, no whistles and bells. Looks can be so deceiving and usually are in many cases, this one especially.
The food was fresh, super hot and delicious. Great chili too! If you’re not from the area and your GPS is spotty, it can be a challenge to find this bar and grill, but it’s well worth it. The kids, my wife and myself all enjoyed ourselves. Wife ordered the perch dinner and the chef really knows what he’s doing. Huge fillets too! it was outstanding. I got the Mushroom/swiss burger add bacon, because why not. Superb! We’ll be back for sure and in greater numbers. I have to bring my pops up. He’d love it. It was reminiscent of one of my many meals at The Dog Patch in Munising, MI.
