I wanted to share an experience that really left a bad impression on me at this location.
While enjoying the beach, I noticed two cats and decided to sit nearby and enjoy the view. I had watched them for about 15 minutes before approaching, being careful not to scare them. As soon as I sat down and the cats came over, a female employee (short, white, blonde hair, pink hat) immediately yelled at me, saying, “Don’t scare them, it’s lunchtime.”
She stopped working, brought out cat food, and told me the cats were “hers,” even though they appear to be stray cats participating in a TNR (trap-neuter-return) program. She made it very clear that I was not allowed to touch them, which made the interaction uncomfortable enough that I eventually got up and left.
What concerned me even more was that after handling the cats and smoking, she returned directly to the bar and resumed handling items without washing her hands. Seeing this, along with her attitude, made me uncomfortable and unlikely to return to this location.
I understand caring for animals, but the situation could have been handled much more respectfully. At the very least, employees should wash their hands after handling animals and tobacco before returning to work.
On a positive note, I later saw the cats again elsewhere on the beach and was able to enjoy spending time with them without being yelled at.
I hope this feedback helps improve future interactions and cleanliness standards.

Sunday sipping! Beautiful day at the beach so we decided to walk around on the boardwalk. Stopped in at the Sand Dollar for a beer. Bartender wasn’t very friendly. Cool atmosphere – sit outside at the bar or inside. Plenty of beer and liquor to choose from. We ordered two Michelob Ultras, all they had were cans. Beers did not taste fresh! Maybe born on date was past expiration. We drink these at home and know what to expect. Asked for lime and salt with a glass and it made the beer tolerable to drink.

This is the spot for a drink on the Carolina Beach Boardwalk. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the drinks are perfectly balanced, and the food is outstanding. Nollie’s Tacos are hands down the best we’ve had since moving to NC from San Diego. This place instantly reminds me of my favorite beach bar back home, and that’s exactly why I love it.

Hands down the best place for drinks in Carolina beach, especially if you like Tequila! They have the best selections of true, non-commercialized Tequilas that you’ll enjoy. A true gem for the tequila world at the beach. The bartenders also provide great service and are easy going and willing to accommodate any need! Sand Dollar is a must stop if you’re looking for drinks and a great time

We had the mahi mahi tacos every day for lunch from the Nollie’s taco take-out window because they were delicious and hit the spot every time. The bartenders were friendly and attentive. My boyfriend enjoyed watching the extreme sports compilations on the TV while we ate. So glad we found this spot for a quick lunch break from the beach.

Alix is the bomb.com. Cooolest bartender I’ve ever met. First time being here and she made me feel right at home. If you come, you have to try a storm brew, brewed for the for the hurricanes hockey league and try Nollies tacos! Hands down best experience! And great ocean views!
