Palm Springs, California
We had passed by this restaurant several times on our way back to our hotel from Downtown Palm Springs, and one evening our curiosity finally convinced us to stop in. Located at The Caliente Tropics Resort, the restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere with colorful Mexican-inspired décor that immediately sets a welcoming tone.
Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a genuine smile and seated right away. Our waitress was fun, outgoing, and knowledgeable, making it easy to ask questions about the menu. For drinks, we ordered a Horchata, which was especially delicious thanks to the extra cinnamon.
For our appetizer, we chose the Queso Fundido. Although we’re more accustomed to Oaxaca or Chihuahua cheese, the Monterey Jack they used is another good option and still tasted delicious—especially with the vegetables they added. It wasn’t served in a cast-iron pan like we’ve had elsewhere, but it still arrived bubbling hot with a wonderful aroma.
For my main course, I ordered the Chile Relleno, which was much larger than I expected. It was perfectly cooked with great flavor. The rice was nicely prepared, and the black beans I ordered on the side had a rich, satisfying taste. We also tried the Vegetable Enchiladas, generously filled with vegetables and full of flavor. With that dish, we ordered the refried beans, which were good, though they could have been a bit better.
Overall, the warm welcome, fantastic service from our waitress, and plentiful, flavorful food made this a memorable dining experience. We look forward to returning to try more dishes the next time we’re in Palm Springs.
They also have a little Cantina in the back where the drinks are out of this world.
I settled on the Monday margarita deal ($10 – huge and awesome) and the Sancho’s Tacos (one of each beef, pork and chicken) with refried beans and salad which was really good. Tender tasty meat.
This is a very relaxed, casual, inexpensive but great dining choice – WAY better than going to a diner (no offense Elmer’s) at the same price and service point.
Next time I’m ordering the “Big fajitas” perfect to share, so great value.
The menu at Sancho’s is a testament to authentic Mexican cuisine at its finest. Each dish is crafted with the freshest ingredients, resonating with flavors that transport your taste buds straight to Mexico. The tacos are a standout, with tender, savory fillings nestled in perfectly warm tortillas. The enchiladas are another must-try, smothered in rich, tangy sauces that hit all the right notes.
Service at Sancho’s is impeccable, with a team that treats every guest like family. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and always ready with excellent recommendations. Whether you’re a seasoned connoisseur of Mexican food or trying it for the first time, they’ll ensure your meal is tailored to your tastes.
Don’t miss out on their drink menu, featuring classics like margaritas that are mixed to perfection. Each sip is refreshing and pairs beautifully with the bold flavors of the food.
For anyone visiting Palm Springs, Sancho’s Mexican Restaurant offers not just a meal, but an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re looking for a family dinner, a romantic date night, or a casual outing with friends, Sancho’s delivers on all fronts. Five stars all the way!
Plenty of parking in the lot as it’s attached to a hotel. Service was great both times we’ve been.
The vibe is quiet the two times we’ve been, but it definitely allows for conversation at the table. Would be great if they could find a small DJ for special weekend events or just play upbeat and trendy music without it being too loud.
I think this place has so much potential for larger parties without needing a reservation and could do really well with a brunch on Sundays (possibly drag brunch). We have yet to find a drag brunch in Palm Springs that serves good food. Anyhow, we will definitely be back!
