Sancho’s Mexican Restaurant & Cantina
Palm Springs, California

We had passed by this restaurant several times on our way back to our hotel from Downtown Palm Springs, and one evening our curiosity finally convinced us to stop in. Located at The Caliente Tropics Resort, the restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere with colorful Mexican-inspired décor that immediately sets a welcoming tone.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a genuine smile and seated right away. Our waitress was fun, outgoing, and knowledgeable, making it easy to ask questions about the menu. For drinks, we ordered a Horchata, which was especially delicious thanks to the extra cinnamon.

For our appetizer, we chose the Queso Fundido. Although we’re more accustomed to Oaxaca or Chihuahua cheese, the Monterey Jack they used is another good option and still tasted delicious—especially with the vegetables they added. It wasn’t served in a cast-iron pan like we’ve had elsewhere, but it still arrived bubbling hot with a wonderful aroma.

For my main course, I ordered the Chile Relleno, which was much larger than I expected. It was perfectly cooked with great flavor. The rice was nicely prepared, and the black beans I ordered on the side had a rich, satisfying taste. We also tried the Vegetable Enchiladas, generously filled with vegetables and full of flavor. With that dish, we ordered the refried beans, which were good, though they could have been a bit better.

Overall, the warm welcome, fantastic service from our waitress, and plentiful, flavorful food made this a memorable dining experience. We look forward to returning to try more dishes the next time we’re in Palm Springs.

I always love coming here. The staff is always happy to see customers and ready to help. The food is solid, I have tried several items and everything is always great. They are open for breakfast on the weekends and the Enchilada con Huevos is my favorite. Keeps me full all day.
They also have a little Cantina in the back where the drinks are out of this world.

We live very close by but for some reason had never been to Sancho’s – I went there for dinner tonight. My server was Rachelle who was friendly, efficient and knew the menu front to back, so gave some great suggestions.
I settled on the Monday margarita deal ($10 – huge and awesome) and the Sancho’s Tacos (one of each beef, pork and chicken) with refried beans and salad which was really good. Tender tasty meat.
This is a very relaxed, casual, inexpensive but great dining choice – WAY better than going to a diner (no offense Elmer’s) at the same price and service point.
Next time I’m ordering the “Big fajitas” perfect to share, so great value.

What a neat place! I was seated promptly and immediately served chips and salsa. I’m not a huge fan of salsa but theirs is made in house and tasted so fresh! Less than a minute later my drink was brought out (amazing horchata). My dinner was served within 5 minutes of ordering. I had the shredded beef super burrito with rice and refried beans. Everything tasted wonderful and the service was awesome! I will definitely be coming back again before I head home!

Every winter when I’m down here, I make sure to stop by Sancho’s at least once. The environment is very welcoming. From the hosts, to the servers, to the ambiance, it’s a really special experience. Folks couldn’t be nicer, and the food is SO good. I have a soft spot for the salsa and chips, haha. Appreciate this place so much! Hope it stays around forever. <3

This has to be one of the most underrated gems in all of Palm Springs. I’m not saying it’s a five start restaurant, but the quality of food and drink here is so good for the price. As a local, my husband and I have looked for good Mexican food in the valley and hadn’t found it. Everything we’ve had at Sancho’s here has so much flavor. The salsa, flautas, tacos, enchiladas, and even the rice are all so flavorful. Drinks are strong and taste good.

Plenty of parking in the lot as it’s attached to a hotel. Service was great both times we’ve been.

The vibe is quiet the two times we’ve been, but it definitely allows for conversation at the table. Would be great if they could find a small DJ for special weekend events or just play upbeat and trendy music without it being too loud.

I think this place has so much potential for larger parties without needing a reservation and could do really well with a brunch on Sundays (possibly drag brunch). We have yet to find a drag brunch in Palm Springs that serves good food. Anyhow, we will definitely be back!

The service was excellent. They were hustling and friendly. It has a fun 50’s vibe. Several marked vegetarian options. I had the veggie fajitas. My husband had a burrito. It was more food than I could eat. Great salsa, average chips. Good margarita. It was Margarita Monday!

The food was very tasty as was the salsa. The chips and beans were commercial which isn’t bad as far as chips go but beans are pasty when commercial. The drinks were also outstanding.
