The signature, all-day restaurant, named for the patron saint of cooks, is an ode to coastal Italian cooking with regional New Orleans influences. The timeless design is grand, with lush modern touches and outdoor seating. Menu highlights include seafood and handmade pasta dishes like Scampi Risotto, Lobster Bucatini, Gulf Flounder Piccata, and Grilled Creole Oysters.

While I loved my meal and did adjust/add to fit my dietary needs, I felt staff might not’ve hit the mark completely here. Particularly the server, who seemed a bit preoccupied in the back and didn’t go into depth about each item on the menu when my food allergies were disclosed. Nonetheless, kitchen staff seemed to nail my requested adjustments on my main dish; and everything ordered was rich in flavor and plated beautifully. Lower lighting at the time of day I was there made it hard to capture, but I wasn’t there for the photos, anyway.
Starters were the octopus and the apple, cucumber, anchovies. Octopus had an awesome kick to it. That savory sweet mix of the apple/cuc/anchovy though? Great first bite, also an amazing palette cleanser after the octopus. I’m going to add this to my recipe deck—this was such a ‘sleeper’ menu item!
Entrees were prawn risotto (hang onto that bread basket they serve and sop up the sauce with the focaccia or mini sesame baguette!), and the linguini clam vongole (chicken added for additional protein and butter sauce replaced with oovo). House. Made. Pasta. Need I say more?! I won’t. Kitchen staff… thank you!
*edit, I was so obsessed with this hotel that I came back for breakfast before I left! Literally so good. Excellent service, fabulous French omelette and a delicious Americano, only $23 and it came out in minutes. So well priced and immaculate, some places in this city are “fancy” but lack on service and are overpriced. This place oozes old New Orleans charm and is just such a fantastic spot to ground yourself from.
As for my club sandwich, the portion was generous and satisfying. The truffle fries themselves were nothing special, but the aioli sauce that accompanied them really brought the dish together. My friend and I love sharing bites, but she never got her side of avocado. Her hash was served cold and lacked the crispiness she expected. Additionally, she requested white toast but was given multigrain instead, and the eggs were underseasoned.
When it came time to check out, the bill was surprising — items were $3 to $9 more expensive than listed on both the physical and online menus. For instance, my club sandwich was listed as $21 but rang up at $30. Our cocktails were also more expensive than the menu prices. If the menu prices have been updated, that’s understandable, but it would have been nice to be informed ahead of time about any increases. I didn’t bring this up with the waiter, but I have to say, it left me feeling quite displeased.
I had high hopes for San Lorenzo given the beautiful ambiance, lovely décor, and welcoming staff. I will definitely give it another try because second chances are always worth it, but this time, the experience didn’t quite meet my expectations.
We sat on the patio after finding it a bit chilly in the dining room. The vibes in the courtyard were immaculate and I would definitely recommend sitting outside.
Our dinner was unreal! The homemade bread, especially the focaccia and crisps, were amazing! We started with the Caesar salad with chilli breadcrumbs that had a great bite. The tuna crudo was perfect. Our favourite dish of the night was the linguine fongole! The picatta was good as well but was overshadowed by how great the previous three dishes were! We finished with a pistachio cannoli which was the perfect end to our night.
We would highly recommend
Now, let’s talk food. The espresso martini was chef’s kiss—bold, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Every dish was airy, rich with flavor, and beautifully presented. The pancakes were toasted just right, with a golden crisp edge and a fluffy center that melted in your mouth.
I absolutely recommend this place for brunch and can’t wait to come back and try dinner!
Absolutely Incredible Experience at San Lorenzo!
I’m from New York City and recently visited New Orleans with two of my girlfriends — we decided to try San Lorenzo and had the best experience from start to finish. Our server, Michael, was absolutely amazing — warm, attentive, and gave fantastic recommendations that really elevated our night.
Every dish we had was incredible, from the appetizers to the dessert. The flavors were spot on, beautifully presented, and you could tell everything was made with care. And their cappuccino? Perfection — it was the perfect end to an already memorable meal.
This place has it all: ambiance, exceptional service, and outstanding food. If you’re in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in town!
