Ice cream was delicious with lots of variety. Service was…interesting. One customer was sitting at the counter while several others were waiting in line. One employee ignored the customers in line, ensuring she finished her conversation with the counter customer. A second employee came from the back (presumably making counter customer’s order) to deliver what he’d made to counter customer’s order. He proceeded to converse with counter customer, while first employee walked to the back once her conversation was done (still ignoring customers in line). Third employee walked to front, looked around, and then returned to the back.

The Turtle ice cream was excellent. The root beer float was very good, too, along with the Mint Chocolate chip ice cream. $20.50 for the three items and well worth it.

A total gem in the mountains. Summer…Winter…doesn’t matter, this place is a charming little refuge. Splurge some calories on a post-Alpine Loop banana split, or an affogato after ice climbing. The customer service is the best and reminds you why you come to these mountain towns.

I mean if you go to Lake City, you have to stop by here. This place is like a step back in time where they make sodas still from scratch. I was with a large group and we all enjoyed our ice creams, sodas, and floats.

If there were 6 stars available to rate this shop, they earned every one. Quaint little ice cream shop in a Colorado town from yesteryear. Service is top notch. Treat selections cannot be beat anywhere. The shop is family run and everyone down to the youngest child has a great work ethic. If you stand in line, it’s worth the wait and you’ll get to peruse an inventory of thoughtfully curated Colorado gifts. I’ve been coming here for years and each experience is as good or better than the last. A+++
