Living in Ballard I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while and it did not dissappoint!! From the ambiance, service, and food I’d rate it a 10/10. Our server was knowedlgable and attentive but not overbearing, the restaurant is so cute and intimate. We did have a reservation which I definitely recommend. We ordered & shared the Caesar Salad, Focaccia, Spaghetti Bolognese, Tiramisu, and Lavender Honey Gelato. I would order everything again and again. Can’t wait to go back to try more!

My sister and I had the most magical evening at San Fermo last night! The restaurant is in the cutest little house, which makes the atmosphere so warm and charming. Our server was so sweet and made the night feel extra special.

We shared the caprese, agnolotti, and bolognese, and every single dish was incredible. We just got back from Italy and honestly agreed it was on par (if not better!) than what we had there. The wine was also amazing and paired perfectly with our meal.

Overall, such a special spot — we can’t wait to come back!

The service was amazing. So warm and welcoming. The candlelit ambiance with small tables and open kitchen feels like we r dinning in a friend’s house. Every dishes was amazing and the charred cabbage was really refreshing.

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary, and it was perfect! The service was impeccable, and everyone was so friendly. The food was insanely delicious and fresh! I highly recommend the spaghetti Bolognese! Definitely a must try spot in Seattle!

Very cute place within the heart of Ballard!

We tried lots of things and had some wonderful wine! It was our first time here, and safe to say, not our last!

San Fermo is a great date night place, family dinner, or small girls night dinner option! Their pasta was delish and each one brought their own flavor. I recommend getting a different dish every time you go!

Overall pretty good! Food was very yummy and the portions were small but if you get an app, entree, and dessert then it works out great. We got the baguette as an app and it was kind of stale. They were very accommodating when we asked to sit on the patio! Service was pretty slow so I’m assuming they were busy. The 23% service charge shocked me but there wasn’t even an option to tip so I’m assuming thats why! Overall pretty good would dine again.

The Peach starter was amazing and the Crab Risotto was spot-on—definitely the highlights. But the portions are small considered with the price, and a 24% service charge feels outrageous when the service is slow and the server isn’t very friendly. Great food, but the overall experience was disappointing.

Went here last week and had a pretty bad experience.
1. A friend got there ahead of us and mistakenly grabbed a table for 2 instead of a table for 3. So waitress had to move us to their covered patio (no tables inside).
Luckily said patio was quite nice! Warm, and waitress adjusted it for us when it was too warm.
2. We had to wait 30+ minutes for our food and were there overall like 2 hours. The table next to us got their food, ate it all, got dessert, ate that, and left in the time between us ordering and getting entrees.
During that time the waitress checked on us once.
3. We got the entres and they were.. fine. Nothing amazing. My wife got the seafood one as it was the only pasta with a white sauce – but of course it was more of a seafood pasta than a white sauce pasta while I got something with olives and our friend got the Bolognese. The waitress did say the menu was seasonal and the Bolognese was the only consistent item on the menu.

The focaccia appetizer was delicious, but I was sad we ate it all well before the entrees got there so I couldn’t wipe up the plate with bread.

And then of course we paid like $220. So just all around a disappointment. Would not recommend coming here unless you’re excited about the seasonal / fresh menu.

One of the best restaurants in Seattle!

I love the focus on local and seasonal produce and the dishes are phenomenal. I’m consistently impressed with their creativity, especially the pairing of unusual flavours as well as keeping timeless classics.

We almost always get the spaghetti because it’s such an indulgence but I’ve also had some of their other mains and enjoyed every one. The antipasti are delightful and could be combined as shared small plates for those interested in a lighter meal.

Do try their cocktails, I had a refreshing summer spritz which had a lovely subtle rose flavour like Turkish delight. The San Fermo Negroni was perfect.

Also leave room for desserts because I think this is where the creativity shines. I’ve had their earl grey tiramisu and seasonal gelato — both incredible.

The staff are knowledgeable and so helpful. Every time I’ve been they’ve directed us towards wonderful wine pairings and helped us decide on dishes. Speaking to the staff and hearing their perspectives is one of the reasons we keep coming back every year.

I looked back at a few of the other reviews and I’d actually disagree on the feedback on portion sizes.

I sense the restaurant’s focus is on quality not quantity. This is sensible dining imho. I found the mains to be filling and perfectly sized. Most American size portions can be a bit over the top but not here.

(Photos are from the two recent visits, one indoor and the other out door — both wonderful)

Thank you so much San Fermo!

Overall very good. Yes, there is a 23% mandatory tip which is noted at the bottom of the menu (not in a small font at all), however there is not even an option to add an additional tip. I think that is extremely appropriate. The restaurant is setting the expectation that you will have good service. Our service was overall good, the waiter was juggling a ton of tables in a small space and still made sure to pay attention to small things like our water level for refills and how close to finishing our food we were. He even went down to the kitchen to ask for the brand of the salt used (I was curious). The food was, in my opinion, accurately priced. For a nice once in a while meal, less than $60 per person (after tax and tip) for appetizer, entree, and dessert is very fair. The food was very good. Not “absolutely excellent the best I’ve ever had,” but very good. Overall atmosphere I think could have been improved, but still very good.
