Visited this quaint restaurant on a special occasion that has broadened my understanding on Northern Italian cuisine. The appetizer, an equivalent of beef tartar, had a delicate balance of freshness that was accentuated by the hazelnut chips to give a nutty, rich undertone. The pastas were supremely enjoyable and I can taste the gaminess of the rabbits mixed with the cheese’s dairy flavors all wrapped perfectly with the pasta. Ate and left no crumbs. The fish special of the day was a treat. The juiciness and the firmness of the fish is rewarding and addictive. The side of fries have room for improvement as they were too dry and bit oily. The hospitality was top notch though the distance between each seats makes you feel like seating on Spirit Airlines and not much privacy with your personal conversations.
The food was absolutely delicious. The pasta tasted unbelievably fresh — the kind of fresh you only get when it’s made with real intention and tradition. Every bite felt like something you’d find in a small trattoria in northern Italy. One highlight I’m still thinking about is the truffle and honey ice cream — such a unique combination and honestly one of the most memorable desserts I’ve tried in a long time. It was rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced.
The manager was also wonderfully accommodating with my service dog, Teddy, which meant so much to me. They treated him with kindness and respect, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.
The wine selection was superb as well — thoughtfully curated and perfectly matched to the flavors of the dishes.
Overall, San Carlo Osteria Piemonte is an absolute gem. Warm service, authentic flavors, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. I can’t recommend it enough and will definitely be returning.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality that makes you feel like a regular, even if you’re from out of town. The menu is a love letter to Italian cooking—each dish crafted with fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and the kind of attention to detail that’s rare to find.
Whether it’s perfectly al dente pasta, melt-in-your-mouth meats, or their heavenly sauces that you want to lick off the plate, every bite reminds you why you came. The wine list is thoughtful, the service is polished yet friendly, and the atmosphere is the perfect blend of cozy and elegant.
There’s a lot to eat in NYC, but San Carlos Osteria is the one we always come back to. It’s not just a meal—it’s part of our New York tradition.
Everything here feels effortlessly authentic. My husband is Italian (and very particular about his Italian food), and this is one of the very few spots in the city that gets his full approval—which says a lot. From the seafood to the contorni (the side dishes are seriously underrated—10/10), every bite tastes like it came straight from the coast or countryside.
The atmosphere is always warm and inviting, with lively music that makes you feel like you’re on a little vacation in Milan or Positano. The staff (I’m pretty sure they’re all Italian, which adds to the charm) are friendly, warm, and genuinely attentive. The manager always tries to accommodate us—especially when I ask for my favorite corner table, which is now starting to feel like my table.
It’s a classic, elegant restaurant with heart. Not trendy, not trying too hard—just genuinely good. The kind of place you come back to again and again, and it never disappoints.
The atmosphere is tight, bustling and quite loud. The place is quite small. For the price tag of 100 + per person it’s not what one would expect.
The service was very prompt and efficient.
Lamb ragú was superb!
