San Angel Inn is one of the loveliest settings imaginable for a delicious meal in Mexico City: the back gardens are beautifully curated and maintained. My son and I had an excellent lunch and shared a delicious kale salad and a silky poblano crema (soup). We followed with a superb chicken mole and a tasty shredded chicken dish with perfect handmade tortillas. This is a classic restaurant and a must-do when México City. I came over 20 years ago and it’s so wonderful that it still leaves such a special impression. Service could not be more attentive or caring. Please visit the Estudio Casa of Diego and Frida right down the block.

Lovely place with loads of traditional plates, not just tacos! I had the sopa azteca and paillard ranchero, which was probably a bit much, but definitely delicious. Don’t be put off by the front, just go in and ask for a table in the garden. Everyone is super lovely and the atmosphere is relaxing!

An old hacienda in the heart of San Ángel, one of Mexico citys best kept neighborhoods, on the pricey side with smallish portions , you really come here for the atmosphere and the drinks , averagely priced , several large gardens, inside patios and an old timey atmosphere make this a great place to have a romantic dinner or a small chit chat with friends

The place is magnificent. It’s one of the few restaurants in Mexico City that’s located inside a hacienda. The service is polite and correct, waiters are always friendly and attentive and what I enjoy is that they do not seem worried about selling the most expensive item on the menu.
The food is good but it could be of higher quality for the prices that they charge. I had sopa azteca which was amazing and a chile en nogada which was good but a bit cold. What’s absolutely great it’s their desserts. I’d only wish their dessert trolley was back.
The place is worth it for the vibes and the experience.

Location is incredible. Haven’t been here in 15-20 years. The Chiles en Nogada were terrible. The Nogada extremely cold and yogurt-tasty. Duck tacos were delicious. Waiter was not helpful nor timely

A fascinating place – half full of Americans coming from Frida/Diego attractions, half full of extremely glamorous older Mexican families clearly celebrating special occasions. It’s very overpriced for the quality of the food, the waiters wear tailcoats, and there is a band. The courtyard is gorgeous. I’d recommend more for drinks than a meal.

Had my worst experience in over three years living and dining in Mexico.
The food was okay but overpriced. The service however was terrible. We had to ask to see a menu. We also had to ask to see a wine list.
When the waiter brought the wine I thought maybe he was high. He put the wine glass down hard and quickly poured a couple drops for me to taste. It was insufficient to smell. When I approved he quickly poured some more and turned to leave but I called him back. I wanted to see the bottle which he never showed me!!!
My partner had ordered a birthday cake for me. They forgot. They finally brought it after we were finished everything including coffee. Then they couldn’t get the mariachi band to play the birthday song. All of this was prearranged by my partner.
The attendants in the baño wouldn’t respond to my buenas trades greetings nor give me a towel…both times I went. They served the Mexicans though.
It was raining arriving and leaving. The valets did not have umbrellas nor did they open our door.
It was very clear that these waiters did not want to serve us. They gave good service to the other guests around us. However because I was a foreigner they were either uncomfortable or didn’t want to serve us.

Stopped in for a few drinks and snacks after visiting the studios of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo which are only a few hundred feet away. Beautiful open courtyard and comfortable seating around the edges. The drinks and food were fine, go for the atmosphere.
