Great atmosphere with a fire place. The clam zipper tastes great! It is a little spicy, very special.

The Prime Rib special is a great bargain for the $. The server was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, everyone that walked in seems to know the servers by name. We really enjoyed everything about this restaurant and will be back.

It’s September 30, 2025, and my wife and I just visited for the first time. Honestly, everything was great—the food, the atmosphere, and the service. We ordered the chicken parm and veal parm dinners, and both dishes came out piping hot and super fresh. We’ll definitely be coming back. We even had to take some leftovers home! (Photo chicken palm half of the serving )

Great food im talking slamming good food out of this world steak for decent prices. Real nice and comfortable atmosphere, and wonderful service. Went on our daughter’s birthday and we ordered her a piece of cake and they sang happy birthday to her…. Id give 10 stars if i could. Plus i have been going to the place since it was Bassetts inn with my parents and now i take my child it’s so awesome that they’re still there and the food is just as good as it was.

Hadn’t been in 10 plus years, figured I’d give it a go. Overpriced and bland. The atmosphere and decor have no rhyme or reason. Service is average. Go to Greenwood Inn or Governor Francis. Waste of money here m!

I hadn’t been into Sam’s in for a while. My husband and I enjoyed the meal. The steak was absolutely perfect. Tender and flavorful. The waitress was friendly and made sure we received great service.

My family has been coming in here since before I was born, and we were loyal patrons for at least 50 years. Loved everything about the place, including Greta and the other bartender who has been here forever as well.

I am very disappointed to say that the last few experiences here were very disappointing.

Our waiter – an older guy with dark hair and sort of a sketchy demeanor) was extremely – *Extremely* rude: hostile, condescending, and slamming plates down on the table. (we still left a tip, a good tip, but I’ll make an appoint to go to the bar next time so I can be treated with dignity and courtesy.)

Both of us are former waitstaff (West Valley Inn and Quidnessett country club for me; Spain for my other dinner companion, so we know very well the difference between high tipping patrons like our self and inconsiderate Boomers’ who probably never waited a table in their life):

I haven’t been back since the slamming of the plate incident, but I hope that when I do return and give them another chance, that the imbalance gentleman who works in the dining room has moved on. If he is still there, I’ll ask for another waiter and I’ll explain in full detail why.

Don’t bring your problems into work and take them out on the patrons who tip in excess of 25% and who are regulars.

Decided to go there for Thanksgiving because of the diverse menu and having had good food in the past.
Prime Rib was tough and stringy, good portion but not as enjoyable as hoped. Turkey dinner was good, potatoes, squash, and desserts were good. French onion soup was nothing special. Shrimp cocktail was nice and sauce was good. We were seated on time and our waitress was attentive to our needs without hovering. With a few drinks and dinner for 5, our bill was close to $320 before adding in a tip.
Next year the search will continue for another restaurant or will just stay home.

This used to be a great restaurant when it was owned by the Bassett family. I always look forward to dining in RI when I visit family. I was VERY disappointed. We were greeted by the waitress who told us they were out of baked potatoes and 3 other items. I ordered the chowder which was awful, greasy on top and the bowl should never have been used to serve anyone with a huge chip. The salad bowl was also missing a big piece. I attached photos for you to see. The atmosphere is no longer what it used to be. The decor is cheap mass produced artwork. The owner’s daughter had family members or friends seated next to us and was loudly talking to them as if she were at home. my experience was so bad I will never eat here again.

We went for mother’s day… we had a group of 11 and were sat in the back room which is nice. The service was VERY slow . We waited over an hr for our food after we ordered it. I ordered prime rib medium rare and made sure the waiter knew I wanted it MEDIUM RARE. It came out and it had NO pink OR red what’s so ever. My mother in law and husband both ordered the chicken parm with a side of sauce. It was never mentioned to them that the extra sauce would cost an additional $2.50 each. My mother in law never even received her extra sauce but they charged us for it. We did ask to have it taken off the bill which the waiter did. We ordered a couple of pitchers of water for the table and it took at least 20 minutes for the waiter to deliver it to our table, and then almost another 15 minutes to get water glasses. My father in law ordered the baked ham and it was just a pile of cut up pieces of ham on his plate. It was also extremely dry. I was extremely embarrassed 8n front of my family as it was me who suggested we eat here for Mothers day. I didn’t want to send my meal back to be cooked correctly because I didn’t want the rest of the party to have to wait for me to finish my meal. I ate a few bites and I ate the salad , boxed up the meat and gave it to our neighbors dog. The waiter never even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert which we did want. He just brought the bill to the table and walked away. We had reservations for 2 pm and we were seated by 205. But didn’t walk out of the restaurant until 5:15. We did ALOT of waiting . At one point I asked the waiter how many tables he was waiting on and he said ours and 2 other small tables. It really wasn’t an enjoyable experience. I have ALWAYS had great food and service when I have been here in the past, but after this bad experience 8am not sure I will be going back. Our drinks were very good!
