SUCH a fun experience! I had wanted to celebrate my 40th birthday here but…covid. So I was super excited to learn that Sammy’s had reopened in 2024 and I raced to book my 45th birthday celebration. It. did. not. disappoint! I had the best time, the food was great and our server Johnny was perfection. My group of 15 had a great time, no complaints!
I highly recommend celebrating at Sammy’s and don’t sleep on the chicken schnitzel!

This is a classic New York restaurant that closed during covid and reopened in a new space in the LES retaining its old world quirky charm. The live music hasn’t changed, nor has the food. The Friday night prix fixe was delicious. There is still a container of chicken fat on every table and you can order a bottle of Vodka that comes in a block of ice with cranberry juice and soda on the side. The chopped liver is still delicious and the steak was perfect. Not a place for vegetarians at all but if you are a meat eater who loves Jewish style food this place is a must. Finish your meal with a perfect egg cream.

The food is great. Everything they served we just gobbled down from salad to chopped liver to chicken, skirt steak, a few other things and ultimately to egg creams. It was all great. The entertainment is just a ball of fun – you may not know it when you get there but you’ll be dancing not just to a hurrah, but to some great dance tunes as well. It’s just a blast. I can’t recommend it enough. Go with a group of people. You’ll be very glad you did.

Sammy’s is an experience. I would recommend going for that alone. It was only OK for me, but everyone is different and there were lots of people having fun. The food was fine. Nothing to call out special but nothing bad either. The liver was probably my favorite.

This place is the best I had no place to take my kids from New Year’s Eve and I remembered Sammy’s from the old days so I called up and immediately I got a reservation to come in. We got there. There was only about 25 people there but within an hour, the place was filled. The food was excellent. The service was excellent and the atmosphere and the fun was great. It’s a great dive restaurant with miserable decor. Horrible lounge singer— who’s a way better comedian. Lots of slightly above bland OK foodstuffs. Kind service and positive attitude. Honestly, it’s the variety of energetic and true grit New Yorker-ish guests that make this establishment a win.
