I Never Was
Follow-up (1 week): After our first visit, it was clear Sammy’s would be see a fast revisit from us and it did. Our order of a few Brisket Burgers, Spicy Burgers and the artisanal Blue Cheese Burger was ready in about 20 minutes. Unlike our stellar debut experience, our sophomore visit was just a shame. The Spicy Burger had little to no avocado blend, the Blue Cheese Burger’s toppings tasted disjointed, and all the burgers including the Brisket Burgers had overcooked, charred burgers that ruined our experience. Outside of the fries and the Brisket meat itself, our second visit left everything to be desired. Inconsistency across months or years is tolerable and expected, but in under a week is something we’ll have a hard time forgiving soon. Rating was downgraded.
Our visit to Sammy’s Halal was met with great execution, welcoming owners and wonderful flavor. The Brisket Burger had the most succulent, juicy brisket topped on top of a meaty burger with perfect chew, lightly-sweet coleslow and a fluffy brioche bun. The Sammy’s Spicy Burger had freshness for days with jalapenos and an avocado blend that gave the burger a fantastic flavor profile. The Jumbo Chicken Wings were freshly-grilled though we wished the fat had been rendered a bit further. All of the wing sauces tasted like they were house-made, and the owners confirmed that with the Honey Garlic tasting like what a true honey and garlic sauce should take like. All of the fries were perfectly-cooked and seasoned with this wonderful blend of spices that had us skipping the ketchup to truly capture their own taste. Iqbal behind the counter helped us with our order start to finish and did add to our experience. We waited a while for Sammy’s Halal to open after their renovations, and the food was well worth it. We’re eager to revisit Sammy’s Halal in the near future.

Looks picture perfect but really below par. We ordered ribs, loaded burger, chicken burger and brisket burger etc. Buns look so good but as soon as you start eating it, they will be like paper thin. We asked for the burger to be well done but were medium rare at best. I wish they put lettuce tomatoes and onions in their burgers. Chicken burger was reasonable but dry. The place is small and cramped. Prices are a touch high, $12 for a burger and fries! Not a very good experience and therefore I won’t be going again.

The food here was fall off the bone amazing. Everything was so tender and juicy with so much flavor. The brisket sandwich was the best I ever had it is called brisket and onion sandwich it’s a holiday special menu. The ribs were falling off the bone and had so much flavor you can either sit down call to go or do delivery. The service here is amazing I cannot wait to tell all my friends about this restaurant. I wanted to find a BBQ spot close to home and this is definitely going to be my new go to BBQ spot. I would reccomend this spot to any and everyone!!!

The restaurant is ideal for taking out family members and the food is excellent .The location is also good. I received my order in a quick and timely manner and the menu is quite interesting.

Last time i went thr for dinner and the food was not fresh i thought maybe its my luck because usually they are great but today I ordered a take out and it was so bad, chicken burger patty was old and stinky chicken tenders were from restaurant depo and chicken nuggets were old as well, beef burger was hard as rock, the attached photo is the burger patty. We ordered food to go about a month ago. Prices were very fair and food looked amazing from the reviews. Let me start off with the positives, my husband really enjoyed his brisket! Also, my french fries were amazing! They were handmade and well seasoned which was a pleasant surprise. However everything else was a miss for us. I ordered fried chicken, I don’t eat dark meat so I was offered a boneless breast cultlet. The portion was good but the breading and seasoning was not. Also our sides were very disappointing. The mac and cheese was not baked, very watery and lacked flavor (similar to Velveeta from the box) and collard greens were also flavorless and overcooked. Since my husband liked the brisket, we may return just for that and maybe a burger or rotisserie chicken and fries for me.

First time trying this place, its right up the block. So happy to have some excellent BBQ food so close!! ALL the food we had was absolutely delicious and very generous portions for a fair price! Chicken quesadilla for appetizer is awesome and super stuffed with lots of chicken and cheese. Beef brisket was really good, sweet potato fries were the best i ever had, and the burgers are huge!! Will definitely be returning. Thank you Nicole for being a very bubbly and attentive server!
