Just ordered tonight over the phone. The lady assured me there was tobiko on the rolls because I asked for it, and she couldn’t add it, but it was on there already. My six year old is eating these rolls anyway, and one of the lettuce garnishes has literally an egg sac or cocoon of a bug on it. Also, there was no tobiko on anything. I’m so angry! Disgusting! Manage your food prep better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Placed a to go order last night. First time eating there. We got the hibachi chicken. Our order was a bit confusing totally on our part. They were so friendly, gracious & accommodating! The chicken was good. A couple of things as a heads up:: The fried rice was good but not what we are used to at other hibachi restaurants, it was strictly rice, no egg, onion, veggies mixed in. If you love the ginger dressing for your salad at other restaurants that is NOT what is put in your salad here. It was explained to me that other restaurants use their Yum Yum sauce as their salad dressing as well. Easy fix. Just requested some and they were so understanding. So just know that ahead of time. We will be repeat customers now mostly because of how I was treated by the staff and owner. Food is just a plus

Tonight was terrible for the drive thru. Went and ordered my food,was told it would 15 min,no problem I went and ordered for kids and my husband.come back and drive thru was back up so I decided to go in,went inside and stood there a good 10 min. Told the lady in drive thru what I had ordered and she completely ignored what I said so I was tired of standing there and decided to go on through the line,bad idea line backed up.finally get to the window and she’s like what did you have I tell her and she proceeds to hand me drinks I didn’t have and then tells me that my food isn’t ready.so I sit another 10 min for her to come back to the window to tell me they haven’t cooked it yet. when I went inside I saw my food sitting to the side and told her that and she didn’t bother looking.she was definitely overwhelmed and dosent need to work drive thru.needless to say I didn’t get my food and got my money back. The restaurant has great food and needs a decent person doing drive thru window,but tonight the person at the window was horrible!!!!

I called in an order for steak and rice steak medium no vegetables plan salad onion soup no mushrooms. It cost 18.47 ridiculous price. I received chicken Bento meal with sushi,rice, very small egg roll, salad and onion soup. I couldn’t eat any of it. This used to be our go to restaurant in Clanton. I don’t know what happened to this restaurant but it has gone down hill.

I eat Japanese all the time, all over the country. This place is literally the worst of them all. This is the serving size of a hibachi combo. It’s unreal and a rip-off. It’s not cheap and look at how little they give. The food quality is never good either. Can’t even get rice right, cannot wait for a real Japanese restaurant to come in and wipe this mess out. Also the ginger dressing is ALWAYS nasty.

My first time dining in I got the dragon roll. Every component was extremely fresh. I don’t expect fresh eel in Clanton but I was blown away. The presentation, the taste, it was 5/5 for me and I will be back.

They food often looks nothing like what they advertise and sometimes comes out looking inedible. For the prices they charge the quality and presentation should be much better. Definitely not worth the visit. I would not recommend Samato Japanese Steakhouse.
