There’s better places in Philly, NYC, etc. But for the Jersey Shore?? This is such a tasty, refreshing, option compared to the grease-y pizza, bland burgers, and sad Mexican food you find on the boardwalk.
Only thing we ordered and didn’t like were the fries. Just kinda bland.
The people who work here are great and friendly. Parking is a little tricky, but no worse than anywhere else here.
Inside is a little basic but I get the feeling most people take out.
Def get one of the platters/bowls. The Samara Mixed Grill is fantastic. So tasty.
We visited at the evening during the week, winter time and there was noone else for dine in so we had the whole place to ourselves. They seem to do more take out in the off season.
Our service was great and the food was so delicious.
Flavor of the whole dish fell flat, I found it to be bland to my tongue palette. The rice was lacking flavor. Spice marinations of meats – chicken, beef, lamb (I think lamb was present in the dish as well) – was inadequate. The white sauce did not help with adding any flavor to the overall dish. I added hot sauce which caused it to be good enough to finish.
The food is not bad by any means, it simply does not hold up to the standards of what I have eaten before at various Mediterranean and Arab restaurants.
If you are into simple flavors and foods devoid of spice, then this is the place for you.
It’s really good price then a Broadwalk, and the most important thing that it’s really useful!
We come to Ortley every year and it’s not always easy finding food that’s both good and affordable. This place was a great find close by and hit the spot after a week of mostly junk food. It honestly tasted like a home-cooked meal. We’ll definitely be back!
