The absolute BEST Tuna Steaks on the Outer Banks – have been going to the outer banks for over twenty years and Sam & Ommies is a local favorite – their hatteras clam chowder is so good it should be canned and put on the shelf at grocery stores!!

Loved it! It’s been 25 yrs since our last time there, but it was still just as good asi it was back then. This time (June 2023), I got the Crab Benedict – so good!

Ordered shrimp, fish green beans an mashed potatoes. The potatoes very odd taste almost like soap an they were ice cold. The shrimp was just plain awful an the flounder was full of bones an very small. Also only 5 shrimp. For 27.00 I expected way better. Oh an the cornbread was soggy. Worst food ever. Oh an service the waitress brought our food an never came back during our meal. I would tell anyone DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE !!! The restaurant was also very dirty. To me this place is just an old fisherman’s bar.

When we come to Nags Head we always stop at Sam & Omies. Always delicious and great service even when they are busy. They were busy tonight. We were seated almost immediately, ordered our dinner, about 12-15 mins later, BAM we were eating great food. The hatteras claim chowder is the bomb! The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The cook made everything well.

Local favorite. Southern staples, island classics, and traditional southern classics, Bloody Mary’s and good vibes. Stop in and relax. Can get busy during the summer so be cool and friendly. Their fried flounder is always on point.

We sure have had some delecious meals here. I really enjoy their breakfast but I wouldn’t turn down their lunch either. If your get close by you must try the old fashioned home town place.

This is an old, mid sized bar and restaurant guaranteed to have huge lines outside.

My family and I stopped here on our way home from the beach as first-time customers and absolutely loved it. Our waitress was attentive and very nice. I had the crabcakes, which were awesome, and my husband enjoyed a juicy and perfectly cooked steak. I should’ve asked for more cornbread to take home because it was DELICIOUS. We will definitely be coming back here the next time we’re in town.

Get here early. We rolled in about 9 for breakfast and had about a 40 minute wait. It’s always packed and for good reason. The food is good and prices are right. Sausage gravy and biscuits were good and the egg meal had everything you could want. While your there get a mimosa to start the day off right.

We’ve been going to Sam & Omie’s since the 1970s. The restaurant went through many changes, but the food was always great. Not so this time; we were there the other day and were disappointed in several ways.
