My husband and I ate here last night. Parked at the truck stop, thought we’d treat ourselves to a big fat steak dinner.
For the 2 of us, we spent $63 for dinner.
Ok, now about the food. We both ordered the 16 Oz t-bone steak dinner with mashed potatoes and brown gravy.
The steaks were low grade. The entire steaks were encircled by a ring of inedible gristle. You know, the stuff that is normally cut off before cooking, and definitely not served to guests. 40% of the steak was inedible, left on the plate. We will never be back.
I must add, to be fair, that the waitress was really nice and the steaks were cooked perfectly rare/med rare, the only reason I give 2 stars.
Come on, people, this is Nebraska, beef country! I get far better steaks in California and New York. This place is a fail.

The food was sad. My 12oz ribeye which cost $33 was cooked well done on half of the steak, medium on the other side (I ordered medium). My friends steak was well done all thru. My potatoes were like powder, worst I’ve had in a long time. Waitress was nice but otherwise not a good experience. The place has sure gone down hill.

The food was excellent steak cooked to perfection and curly fries were delicious, the service however was the worst service I have ever had. We waited nearly 30 mins after we finished eating and our cups were empty for the check. It was as if the waitress Tasha, had completely ignored our table. I will never go back.

It deserves a 2nd chance. Our recent experiece at this establishment was horrible. We went in expecting a good steak house meal and we were sadly disappointed. Our drinks were always empty, and our waitress made us feel like a burden. There was so much wrong we became embarrassed to explain it all. However, this steak house has the potential to be a nice little oasis among a vast stretch of highway and upon speaking to management we might try again.

I had the Sam Bass Filet and the steak was superb although the jalapeños were a little much for me. Service was attentive and the margaritas had good flavor. Prices weren’t cheap, but weren’t unreasonable for a steakhouse. If I’m ever in the area again, I will be back.

This place used to b so good ….my dinner tonight was gross wont b stopping here anymore…dont waste your time. Ordered my steak medium and it was well done, mashed potatoes were like powder, bread tasted like flour. 12 oz ribeye was $33. Extremely overpriced for a dry steak.

to start with it was hard to find cause most of the lights on the outside of building were burnt out. that should have been a sign to me but it is hard to find a decent place to eat while traveling through Nebraska. i ordered a ribye. my steak was raw( I asked for medium) it was also mostly fat. the service was very slow as well. the waitress did at least take my steak off the bill. First time there, had a 16oz ribeye. Good flavor, cooked right, but was a lot of fat. Maybe 11oz good meat. Service was good, however I felt prices were somewhat high for one person.

My friends and I have eaten here over a dozen times and they have the best ribeye steaks and jalapeno poppers. The serivce has been great. We eat there mainly on the weekend evenings – and the waitresses have gone out of their way to accomodate us. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is casual and relaxing. We pass Big Springs traveling to other places and always plan to have our meal at Sam Bass. Their location is convenient and the service is fast. When we are traveling, we can’t afford places with slow service. The salads are ample sized, especially considering that it comes with the meal. We all like ribeye steaks and have sampled ribeye in a 6 state region. We all vote that Sam Bass has one of the best ribeye steaks anywhere!

Great place to stop and eat! The prices are very reasonable for the steak and beer. Friendly service and the cook knows how to make a steak!! Not open Mondays. Only tjing is that I thought the menu was very vague. Food makes up for it 🙂
