A destination from all over;
Salvatores by Papà Reno is a 3rd generation Italian restaurant located in historic downtown Muscatine. Just a couple of blocks from our great Mississippi river.
Here, Papà Reno at 84 and son Claudio are still cooking great Italian specialties that go back to his grandmother.
Our customers are like family and we take pride in cooking for the famiglia…….. Great pastas with fresh sauces and local ingredients, our famous pizza with dough made from scratch, fresh leaf greens topped with our homemade dressings, an aged ribeye marinated for over a week, tiramisù and cannolis that have the old country flavor, and great wines from wineries that have been personally visited by our family! Come and experience us!
Old-fashioned Italian restaurant serving up pizza & hearty classics plus beer & wine.

Over 50 years of authentic Italian in downtown Muscatine, Iowa! In 1985, Reno Vitale moved here from Palermo, Sicily, the original home of pizza and pasta.

We really wanted to try this place and we’re looking forward to some authentic Italian. Food and service were eehhhh. Honestly I felt like I could have stayed home and cooked better The waitress was nice at first but it was close to closing time and after a lil bit we just felt rushed. She stopped checking on us and seemed annoyed when we called her over. Then some regulars walked in and she was so quick to help them and just treated them way nicer, and didn’t pay any attention to us. Took us 10 mins to get a to go box when the place is tiny and there were only 2 tables us and them… Just my honest opinion.

First time visitor and will definitely be back to try more dishes. Small restaurant setting but plenty of elbow room and I liked the raised ceilings. It made it seem bigger and not so crampy. The waitress was nice and answered our questions as we had them. When we paid she introduced us to Dom (?) and told him we were first timers.. Salad is basic…romaine and dressing.
I got the chicken parmigiana and my husband got the manicotti. I tried a bite of his and it was yummy and the sauce was great. The chicken (and this is more of a preference) was not as crispy as I expected it to be and the sauce was perfect. Simple and just enough.
We arrived around 5:45 on a Friday night and it was not busy yet so dishes came out quickly. The restaurant did start to fill up as we ate. We heard they have take and bake pizzas and after seeing several cooked ones go out the door we will definitely do that sometime. Dom (?) suggested that they freeze well and would be nice when the weather turns bad for winter and we don’t want to get out of the house.
Restaurant was wheelchair accessible but I don’t know if it would work for the placement of the chairs and tables to make it work for the handles of the wheelchair not to get caught by the waiter/waitresses or be too close to the table’s chair and patron behind us.

It’s been busy several times when going in for pick up, but as long as someone says “we’ll be with you soon” I have no issue waiting! It does become awkward standing there for 5 minutes with no acknowledgement. Portabella ravioli and ziti are amazing!

A great place to eat. The atmosphere was nice. The waitress was great and followed up at appropriate times. I got the manicotti which was awesome, I defiantly get it again! My wife got the chicken parmesan with spaghetti. The chicken was two parts and one of them was a little firm but the pasta and sauce was great. The price was also reasonable and food was served in a decent time. I’m looking forward to going back. We will probably get one of the pizzas to go sometime after work.

A truly delicious Italian experience. The Seafood Estella was great and has no comparison. The spaghetti had a rich and developed meat sauce. Reno’s Famous Ribeye is Famous for a reason. A beautiful cut of meat. My daughter said the Alfredo was the best she’s had in her life. The Italian Cream cake was art. The perfect amount of lemon reminded me of sipping a limoncello.

We had a great time with great food! The pizza was good but the pasta was fantastic! The owners are real Italians not fake American Italian (big difference). We live in Italy for a time and we really enjoy authentic restaurant. They were really friendly and made us feel at home, even speaking with us in Italian. The coffee is spot on something many places mess up and the tiramisu was heavenly.

Great food and service. My mother stated it was “the best Fettuccine Alfredo” she had ever had. Cheese bread sticks are the size of a medium pizza. They were very cheesy, hot and worth getting. I had the manicotti, it was good. The homemade Italian dressing was good on the simple side salads. Great service at dinner time. No issues would recommend and will return when I am in the area next.

Customer service was excellent. They took care of a small problem with my appetizer. Flavors are off the chart delicious! Pasta was perfectly ‘al dente’, shrimp / seafood was not overcooked. And you can buy nice wines here to take home, wine you can’t otherwise find in the area. So I bought one to enjoy on an upcoming special occasion. I look forward to returning.
