Stopped in at Salvadoreño in El Mirage and it was an excellent experience. The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in.

We ordered pupusas and they were delicious — one with asada, one with chicharrón, and one revuelta (pork, cheese, and beans). Each one was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp on the outside and plenty of flavorful filling inside. They came with curtido (slaw) and salsa that took the flavors to another level, plus fried plantains and cream on the side. Everything tasted homemade and authentic.

The restaurant itself has a cozy, colorful atmosphere with papel picado banners, flags, and Salvadoran artwork that give it a festive feel. It’s a simple, casual spot but feels very inviting and family-friendly.

This is exactly the kind of place we look for any time we travel. Unassuming, little place in a shopping mall. These are the hidden gems; and this place is ample proof of that.

We had to be down in the valley for some business. And we hadn’t had Salvadorian food in close to 20 years. (Long story)

So we did some looking around and found that this place was relatively close to our hotel. So we just had to!

The restaurant itself is spotlessly clean; and the staff is super nice and attentive.

We ordered (and split) the three papusa combo (pork, chicken and Loroco) with rice and beans. I also got a Cola Champagne for the first time in almost 20 years, and a couple extra to take home.

The papusas were excellent and came with a pretty sizable bowl of curtido. (…always a good thing!) Everything was fresh and handmade. Now, rice is one of those things that usually blends into the background. But not here! This rice was insanely good and had a flavor profile that neither of us could figure out. And the beans were just as good with a deep, rich smokey background.

EVERYTHING about this little place is excellent! If I was working in the valley again, I would probably hit this place weekly.

For a simple dining experience with excellent food and great people, this is a solid 5 stars!

Highly recommend!!

Overall, it wasn’t bad.
Food was pretty good. I got chicken pupusas and my husband got “carne asada”. Wasn’t really crane asada. Lack of flavor

Wait time was not too bad from ordering to the food hitting the table. I also ordered rice in bean sauce but didn’t get that.

The horchata wasn’t my cup of tea. It has a chocolate or coffee taste to it.

First time ordering from here, ordered the whole fish ( mojarra frita) really tasty, fresh and well seasoned, definitely worth the price . Also ordered 3 pupusas, variety of them, they came with cortido and salsa. Overall everything was delicious, I’ll be back again. It’s worth a try. Ok I’ve now enjoyed the food here for I’ve 2 years now. Tried a combo platter, Kola champagne and ensalada de fruta drink. It’s all very good. $38 plus tip. Great price. New pic’s. GO TRY THIS SPOT.

The food is great! But it is not a fast dining experience by any means. Expect 5-10 minutes from time of entry to order. Anticipate 30-minutes minimum from order to food arrival. Then, add 10-15 minutes per party ahead of you in line.

For example, if you come in for Dinner and there are two couples waiting ahead of you, I would guess 20-minutes until you’ll get to order, then 40-minutes until your food will arrive, for a total of a 1-hour wait to eat.

I’ve been feeling sick and needed some chicken soup and this place popped up on DoorDash. I really loved the soup. It has such an amazing flavor and soothed my throat and helped with my swollen glands. The papusa was delicious, my first time having it, or any Salvadorian food. They also threw in a free chicken salad so that’s really nice. I took a star off though because the soup was advertised as chicken soup and there was only veggies and rice in it. I’m curious as to what the green vegetable was, if anyone can answer.

This was our first time trying Salvadorian food and it was good. We all orders pupusas and they were decent very nice experience. If you’ve never been out of the country then you won’t to expect to have a wait for the food. Most places pump out the food to get people in and out. But I’d take the quality or speed. Our food was made to order and it was delicious. I thought about taking the photo after I started eating.

The food was great! This place does not hold back on that cheese. The pupusas are not full of masa which is good. It’s a bit pricey but worth it.
