Fried shrimp is my guilty pleasure, so went out today at lunch to try the new place out in Rolesville. Disclaimer: I got my food “to go”. That always is a negative, I know. So taking that into consideration.
The shrimp had phenomenal flavor. Was very pleased. Would have been evven better i’m sure when it was fresh out of the fryer but fried food always loses some crispy when it rides home in a Styrofoam box.
The hushpuppies (another guilty pleasure) were disappointing, I have to say. They were very skinny and chewy. Was hoping for better here. The slaw was very good, and the fries were standard crinkle cut fries.
The girl at the checkout was great. Super friendly. Helped me with an unfamiliar menu and saved me some money actually. She was super friendly. Thumbs up there.
All in all, would and will try again. Hoping the hushpuppies are A LOT better next time. Cant eat calabash style seafood without decent hushpuppies!

Love their fried flounder which is cooked to perfection. Brought many people here and they all want to go back. Everyone brought loved it all. Fried Catfish, broiled Talipa, and sides were all cooked perfectly, they said. Will definitely keep visiting. Love that owners take pride in the quality of food they prepare and visits guests. They are super nice people. Will be back.

A local establishment with a wide choice of seafood. I had broiled scallops, others had the catfish. For the price you can’t beat this place. I really like their coleslaw. They do get fresh seafood in. According to the waitress usually once a week.

We came to the restaurant at 4:30 p.m. July 21. After being seated we sat for an extended period of time while the staff verbally and loudly tried to figure out who our waitperson was. Finally we ordered basic seafood and were delivered hush puppies around 15 minutes after we ordered. Everything was unbelievably slow. We asked for sweet and low sweetener and were told 10 minutes later they were out of it. After over the 1 hour mark and MANY people served food after we ordered we asked about our food at the 65 minute of waiting mark. We were told the printer had a breakdown and our order was just put in. Nothing up to that time was even mentioned to us of a problem. We elected to leave. We ate at Off the Hook a lot in the past but this place is now horrendous. Avoid at all cost!

Not good. We used to go to the previous restaurant all the time. This one feels less clean. Ordering broiled was no issue before, now it’s a special request. There’s a $2 upcharge per broiled item, which is fine, but the portions don’t make sense.
I ordered broiled fish and shrimp, and my husband ordered the same thing but got his fried. He got 5 filets of fish and around 24 small shrimp. I got 1 small filet and 7 medium shrimp. So I paid $4 more to get way less food! Even without breading, his portion was triple or quadruple mine. Why charge more for broiled if you’re giving way less? Why should someone get 5 filets if they order fried, and only 1 filet if they order broiled.
The worst part was what happened with the stuffed cabbage. I ordered it, then watched the waitress walk over to take the next tables order, and told them they only had one left. That table got their food before us, and when the woman there sent her cabbage back for not being hot enough, they gave mine away to her. I ordered first. They just assumed I was a sucker and wouldn’t notice that they gave mine to her, and immediately walked over to my table to inform me I needed to choose another side.
Now both of our stomachs are upset. I didn’t catch the sanitation grade, but we ate at the old place over 30 times and never got sick.
We miss the old restaurant.

We have been here several times. We have no complaints. The broiled and Calabash style are both great. Great sides too. The owners are very friendly and visits their guests. Wish they could be open more so we could go more. We will visit as much as we can.

Just tried the new restaurant salty shores 2 today to see what its all about and id have to say it was wayyy better than off the hook could’ve ever been. Everything was so flavorful and fresh! The cooks are also very nice and came out to introduce themselves to customers. The building now is also so much cleaner. The floors arnt sticky like they used to be and it smells so much better inside the restaurant. If you haven’t tried it yet add it to your bucket list! I will be coming back
