My fiancé and I wanted to share a nice dinner out at The Salty Mermaid. Upon entering, our waitress greeted us from behind and informed us that we could sit wherever we liked. We chose the end booth, and she placed a paper on our table, apologizing for not having it prepared, and mentioned, “I’ve been here all day and I’m just over it.”

We ordered drinks and food, but she quickly returned to inform us that they had no rice, which was included in both of our dishes. She handed us menus and asked us to make new selections. The waitress checked on us two to three times before our food arrived, but my fiancé still hadn’t received his drink, so she removed it from the bill.

We ordered the Cajun pasta, and when it arrived, we were extremely disappointed. The shrimp was chewy and undercooked, the sausages resembled hot dogs, and the Alfredo sauce was not authentic. The dish was of a quality that a college student could easily prepare in a dorm.

Overall, we were utterly disgusted with both the service and the food. After everything, the waitress deducted $1 from the bill, (as that was the difference between our two drinks). We strongly advise against dining in or ordering takeout from this establishment, as you will be disappointed every time.

We had a great experience at The Salty Mermaid. I ordered the seafood boil with sausage and mussels. There was a small mix up and I accidentally got crawfish instead, which we were told was due to a new kitchen staff member, but it was handled just fine and didn’t take away from the experience.

My boyfriend had a couple hiccups with his meal as well, but everything was smoothed out and he ended up happy. Huge shoutout to Kaislynn, she was amazing. She surprised him with his favorite cake, which completely made his night and meant a lot to us.

The food was good, the prices were very reasonable, and the service really stood out. We’ll definitely be back.

Food was not great. The chicken was burnt and looked gray, for a kids plate. The “Cajun” boil seemed like it was tomato paste, old bay seasoning, and garlic seasoning. Not even real garlic used. No lemons available. Even the shrimp po-boy was terrible. Staff were great tho.

It’s nice to have a seafood place around here, but this particular visit was somewhat disappointing. The food was acceptable, but I’ve had better for the price. The service was fast, but our waiter was huffing and puffing because I took slightly longer to order. (I’m just indecisive, alright!) Anyway, a good option if you’re in the seafood mood, but not worth it if you’re on a budget.

Let me start off by saying the atmosphere here in sooo nice. We sat in the bar area, lighting is low and cozy. Very welcoming. Oldies softly playing in the background … I personally LOVE the decor. Our server was Isabel (or Isabella) she was amazing. The chef came to our table to ask how food was, I only had a salad but hubby had the boil and he said it was good (not omg this is amazing, but pretty good). Price are affordable. I hope this place makes it, it’s such a cute restaurant. Hopefully they get more non seafood menu options for us weirdos who do not like seafood but want to enjoy a seafood vibe. Or in my case , husband who loves seafood so I just tag along.

Also didn’t see a kid’s menu but those may be separate as we didn’t have our kiddos with us. However In the future we’d like to let our kids play in the arcade while we sit at the bar, definitely a family friendly restaurant . You can see the time and love put into this place.

All in all we will be back.

I love this entire place! The atmosphere is fun and different than any other place around. Definitely doesn’t feel like Clovis, and we love that! The staff is super friendly and the food was top notch. Never thought I’d see the day that our little desert town would have a Cajun seafood joint! And you can enjoy your gator bites right at the Shark Bar!! Coolest tiki bar I’ve seen. We will be back soon!!! Incredible management as well!

This place is like no other in this area. The Pub style atmosphere is so dang cool. Mostly English Pub setup but with a little Americano subtlety. The boils, hot wings and the hamburgers are off the hook. They are set up anyway you enjoy them. The burgers are handmade and not frozen. Plain, cheese, bacon and green chile for your burgers. The menu may seem small but the portions are very satisfying. The staff is welcoming, happy and always ready to make your evening enjoyable. They have a restaurant for those date nights and for families. Open tables for large groups or gatherings for party’s. It is a must if you want a good time and a quality dinner or just a drink with someone special or with friends.
