Prime rib Wednesday…gotta go. Worth the stop. Parking can be tight downtown but a short walk never hurt anyone. Fish dip was great as well as the boiled peanuts.

We’ve just moved back to the area and as we’re waiting for our home to be completed, we had to eat out a lot. One late evening we were starving after a long day of cleaning, painting, etc and decided to look for a place to eat. Salty Dogs popped up and was one of the only places open that late at night. We were over the moon excited and happy we ended up there! The restaurant is really cool, awesome atmosphere, our server was super kind and very attentive. The food was SOOO GOOD! We had the boiled peanuts for an appetizer and they were THE best boiled peanuts we’ve ever had! Huge portions of everything we got and had much to bring home to munch on over the next day! We also got the huge baked potato with Cajun shrimp, the lobster bisque, and a Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. We’re happy to know there’s a fabulous restaurant that’s not only open late, but also has an awesome menu with so many options! They even happily catered to my onion allergy. 10/10 recommend!

Went here for lunch with my wife, sister -in-law, sister and brother-in-law, son, and grandson.
I ordered the Prime Rib French Dip and salad. The sandwich was absolutely delicious with quality prime rib and the au jus dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned to complement the beef.
Salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing with cherry peppers, pepperonci, sliced pepper rings, tomatoes, and fresh lettuce!! Awesome!!
Service was excellent, prompt and polite.
Didn’t get to take pictures of the meal but we were all very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the food and we will definitely be returning soon.
Would recommend this place to everyone!

My cousin is visiting me in Florida, so we decided to stop in Inverness on the way home from Crystal Springs and came across the Salty Dog restaurant. This was our first time eating here. Our waitress Jessica came right over to our table, gave us menus and a few minutes to decide what we wanted to order. I had the Mojo pork wrap with a side of potato salad. My cousin got Teriyaki Salmon with a baked potato. The flavor on my wrap was delicious. My cousin liked her salmon. The music they played was great. The music was a bit loud, but we could still talk. I didn’t mind it. I’m really impressed with our waitress Jessica. She was so professional and attentive. What a fantastic server and great personality! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food, music, and a great chill spot.
Our experience was unforgettable. Thank you Jessica and The Salty Dog!
I will come back and visit

This is my favorite restaurant in downtown Inverness. The prices are reasonable and the baked potatoes are huge. My wife is gluten free and she had no problem finding something she likes to eat. The best thing is that they don’t charge a fee for using a credit card!!

I recently visited Salty Dogs Bar & Grill in Inverness, Florida, and here’s my experience.

Atmosphere and Cleanliness:
The restaurant boasts a spacious and inviting environment, and it’s definitely clean and well-maintained. The open layout can get a bit loud when it’s busy, but it still has a lively and welcoming vibe.

Service:
Our waitress was friendly and attentive, making sure we felt taken care of throughout our visit. The service was definitely a bright spot in the experience.

Food Quality and Passion:
Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. It felt like the kitchen lacked that passion and attention to detail that truly elevates a meal. For example, the chicken in the daily special was tough and chewy, and my wife’s potato skins were more like potato slices with pulled pork. It’s clear that when chefs are passionate about their craft, it shows in the quality and flavor of the food. In this case, the lack of passion definitely impacted our dining experience.

Overall Experience:
While the bar and drink selection was decent, and we appreciated the service, the food quality left much to be desired. It’s a reminder that passion and pride in one’s work are crucial, especially in the culinary world.

Rating:
Atmosphere and service: 4 out of 5.
Food quality: 2 out of 5.

This restaurant has plenty of seating, a comfortable atmosphere, and lots of TVs, which makes it a great spot to catch a game or relax with friends. The service is consistently top notch, friendly, attentive, and quick, which really adds to the experience.

The only drawback is the menu. It’s been the same for over a year, and even the specials haven’t changed. While the food is decent, it would be great to see a little more variety, especially when it comes to appetizers or seafood options. A refresh with some new dishes or improved selections would take this place from good to outstanding.

Overall, it’s a solid spot with excellent service and atmosphere, but the menu could use some fresh ideas.

Just discovered this place since deciding to skip The Villages bs and start going to Inverness Main Street since it’s closer and hopefully cheaper. This was our fourth time at The Salty Dog Steamers. We’ve tried the flatbread, quesadilla, shrimp tacos, BLT wrap and boiled shrimp. LOVED the boiled shrimp. Flatbread was ok, not in love with how soft it is, a lot of meat. Quesadilla so-so. The shrimp tacos on Tuesday are worth going in for, which is why I go on Tuesday, but the Turkey Reuben ciabatta (?) my friend had was very dry and it eventually found the garbage at home. This is really a hit or miss place. On the plus side, the place It has a cool vibe. I’ll go back for shrimp tacos but I may have lost my friend. 3 strikes for her. The music is pretty good.
