stopped here for a quick dinner. got the shrimp basket and it was awesome! got a great amount of food for the price (7 shrimp and fries for $15!). the lady working there was super nice, too. the sauces that came with it were also really good. some chipotle mayo and cocktail sauce. 10/10 hit the spot

I ordered the original shrimp basket with fries and it was exceptional. Shrimp were perfectly battered and fried to a crunchy exterior. I could really taste the love that went into my meal. Cooked with quality ingredients and the right amount of seasoning on the fries. I was just passing through on my way back home from Austin but if I lived here I’d definitely come back.

I have only successfully been able to order from here 1 out of 4 tries. On my first visit I was able to order the fish and chips. They were pretty decent and the portion size was good. The other three times I have been greeted with our fryer broke down so we are not able to take orders (understandable), my cook needs to run and get something come back in 10 minutes, and we have too many orders right now come back later. I am guessing the employees and owner of this restaurant do not need money or to make a sale since I have willing tried to trade my money for their food. Oh well there are plenty of other options at Sawmill that are happy to take my money. I think I will give up on this place. I am guessing they will not last much longer since they don’t seem to care to actually sell their product.

The shrimp and lobster basket consists of eight pieces of shrimp and something I could not recognize as lobster, heavy coated with breading and semi-burned. There was a long dark hair winding through the fries. The dips are far from great. The lobster like substance was raw inside the semi burned coating. They offered to make it all over again for me. I should have asked for my money back. Fries are extra. Now I know.

Absolutely not worth the money! The shrimp/lobster basket I got had six pieces of meat…6! and nothing else…couldn’t even be bothered to toss $.50 worth of fries on it…everything else looks to come with fries, why not this one?! The shrimp and lobster were cooked well, but that’s about all that could be said for this dish.
Also, the chicken andouille gumbo is decidedly NOT gumbo and was a super small portion. It tasted okay, but it was definitely not gumbo, more like chicken andouille creole. If you want actual gumbo take your $7 to J.Gumbos and get three times as much for your money.

We’ve had the lobster po boy and the fish and chips. Both were quite good. Seafood tasted fresh and was hot and crispy. Cocktail sauce was spicy and the tartar sauce has green chile in it. (I think) The fries are delicious too. Hot and crispy. The staff is super friendly and helpful too.

When I arrived, I was greeted by an overzealous server who found the incessant need to correct me while I was correcting myself. She was so in-the-moment to tell me they don’t serve lobster rolls that she did not hear me say I mean po boy immediately after saying roll. The food came out appearing fresh and delicious and I was offered a tray to take my food to a table which was nice. For that, I give them the second star. The food was overpriced, under flavored, and the bread was stale and the fries were dry. They also treat ketchup like it is gold and are very stingy with it. It would have come in handy with the desert fries and bread they served me. The food looks good but is nothing to write home about.

I ordered the shrimp po boy and it came with the tails on the shrimp. I had to remove the tails in order to eat the sandwich. I have never had a shrimp po boy served with the tails on it and I have eaten a lot of them in New Orleans. I went back to the counter to recommend that they remove the tails before frying and a young lady working there said the sandwiches come with the shrimp tails on because some people like them that way. OK, that may be true but some don’t like the tails on. Why not offer customers a choice of tails on or tails off when ordering a shrimp po boy? Needless to say, I won’t be eating there again.
