I recently had the opportunity to visit multiple Saltgrass locations and am providing a review of a newly opened branch. Overall, the food, service, and atmosphere of the restaurant were satisfactory. However, there were inconsistencies in the preparation of the meats. My wife ordered a Wagon Boss Center-Cut Top Sirloin cooked medium rare, but it was served raw. I ordered a New York Strip cooked medium rare, which was prepared correctly.

Our server had an awesome personality — funny, engaging, and made the whole table feel comfortable. Definitely added to the experience.
Service took a while to get started, especially with drinks, but when they finally arrived? Oh honey — it was worth the wait. The white cosmopolitan didn’t just show up — it made an entrance. Elegant, smooth, and absolutely delicious. Like a drink that says, “I’m the main character now.”
The food? HOT and full of flavor. You could tell the chef put his back into it. Every bite felt intentional, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection.
I gave the potato soup a try — not something I usually order. It wasn’t bad, just not a standout. If you’re a fan of baked potatoes and like your food extra chew-optional, this one’s for you.

We’ve dined at Saltgrass Steakhouse locations around Houston so we were ready to try the newest one located at Gulfgate Center (it was once a mall!) near the University of Houston and Texas Southern University that opened in September 2025. The Saltgrass exterior had a feature near the restaurant entrance that’s not available at all the locations – a covered chuck wagon.
We were promptly seated and Ashley was very attentive to our order requests – from the mushroom appetizer (we miss the crab cakes…bring them back please!) to the Pat’s Ribeye, chopped steak and steak salad modified with salmon, each item was accurately delivered.
Enough talk….entree photos provide how well the food was prepared, and how impressively large the Gulfgate Saltgrass Steakhouse restaurant interior is (in comparison to the Meyerland, I-10 near Memorial City Mall, I-69S just past S. Gessner locations).
The Gulfgate Saltgrass Steakhouse restaurant seats just over 400 patrons (!). We will definitely return to the Gulfgate Saltgrass Steakhouse restaurant, and from the excellent food and service received, this location is now ready for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the FIFA World Cup events.

10/01/25 Food was great but Steak was delicious cooked on point but overall it was a great experience. The dessert wasn’t all for me but it doesn’t take away the rest of the food. Drinks I’ll still give them 7/10. I know they are new so i hope they keep with quality and amazing customer service

Food was good and fast and hot and fresh. Service was excellent . Staff were nice and welcoming. Our waiter was very polite and kept the drinks refilled and made sure we were great.

Austin was a great server but $80 lunch including tip is a bit overpriced. The salad wasn’t right, too many white pieces and not as good as pappas house salad with bleu cheese. May order doordash but this is why chain restaurants are going out of business. They have to cut too many corners since the profit margin is so thin.

I had a great experience at Saltgrass Steak House, and a big part of that was thanks to Emily G. From the moment we were seated, she was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. She made sure we had everything we needed without ever being overbearing, and her timing was perfect throughout the meal.
Emily was also very knowledgeable about the menu and gave excellent recommendations. You can tell she really cares about providing great service and making sure her guests have a positive experience. It’s rare to find someone who balances professionalism with such a warm personality.
Because of her, our visit was smooth, enjoyable, and memorable. I would definitely come back and hope to be served by Emily again. She truly represents great customer service!

My family and I decided to have dinner at Saltgrass Steak House this weekend, and it was honestly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while. From the moment we walked in, everything felt welcoming and well organized.
Our server, Emily G., absolutely made the night. She was friendly without being overbearing, checked on us at the perfect times, and knew the menu inside and out. She gave great recommendations (the ribeye was cooked perfectly and the loaded baked potato was on point). Drinks stayed full, and she kept everything moving smoothly even though the restaurant was pretty busy.
What really stood out was her attitude. She had a genuine smile the entire time and made us feel like valued guests, not just another table. It’s rare to get service that attentive and warm these days.

I went to this Saltgrass to celebrate my anniversary for the first time and Emily G. Was amazing! Came out with an amazing energy, she recommended me an delicious drink, my food was out at a decent time, and tasted amazing! Emily G. Informed her manager about my anniversary and both surprised my husband and I with champagne and dessert I literally cried! Thank y’all so much for an amazing experience! I will recommend this place to everyone! Again, Thank you Emily G. and the rest of Saltgrass staff for making my day!

The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful.. new vibes but old vibes iykyk.. had to send my steak back it was too bloody, asked for medium got rare.. took a bit to fix but it was good after the fix.. bread was perfect.. My service was on point and very nice, manager came to apologize about the mishap.. but otherwise a very pleasant experience..
