My BBQ career really began when my love of cooking met my interest in making the best barbecue I could & I decided I wanted to give competition barbecue a try. We progressed quickly and gained some notoriety & after just a couple of backyard (amateur) competitions, we moved to the professional division. We racked up 2 Grand Champions (1st place), 4 Reserve Grand Champions (2nd place), and multiple top 10 calls in less than 2 seasons. To win a BBQ competition, you must use the best quality meat you can find. We still use that same discipline. We use only USDA Prime brisket and the best ribs we can source. We don’t skimp on quality, down to the mayo we use for coleslaw dressing. Almost everything we make is made from scratch, from the BBQ

I am extremely appalled with the level of service that I received for spending that kind of money. The guy at the front acted like I was doing him a favor by using his business. He didn’t ask me if anything was to go and he put it on a plate so I had to ask him to box it up for me. He did so with his gloves that he’s been wearing while he’s been handling the computer and money and even said that he was impressed that he got it all into a box, but I had to ask him to put the remaining pieces of pork on the plate into a box because I’m paying for every ounce of meat that is on that plate. It was basically thrown together in the three boxes loosely. And then he put it in a plastic bag that was barely big enough to hold the three boxes. He was acting put out like I’m doing something wrong by just going in there and getting food. I was dumbfounded and borderline upset with the way that he was not giving me service. Normally, I would just let this slide and not have a fuss or leave a review, but my family and I have been having severe indigestion of the liquid variety. I can honestly say that it was from this location because all of my family got sick after and it’s been 24 hours since I’ve been there and we’re still sick from it.
Normally, I always try to praise and give people the benefit of the doubt for everything, but this is just too far gone for me to let it slide. The world needs to know how bad it really was and still is.
I had the pulled pork sandwich, which is a barbecue staple anywhere. I got the baked beans on the side because, why not? The pork itself was dry and had no inherent flavor. It just took the flavor of whatever sauce was on it. My first bite of the beans I was thinking, oh these are pretty good. But that was just the human taste preference for sweet prevailing.
Just a few bites in I was choking down my pulled pork and thinking “these beans are just way too sweet.” I ended up not finishing the beans, even as dessert. The sad part is I ended up trying this place because another nearby barbecue place wouldn’t answer the phone to take a phone order. I guess you could say I’m not having tremendous success with barbecue places in Salt Lake City.
