I also brought my daughter the milanesa torta. The meat was over cook sort of burned. The bread/ torta was hard. She wasn’t able to just bite into it. We had to cut it into pieces and still very unappetizing she only ate half. Very sad. We bought the melon water and the cucumber water, which were very tasty. Sad The other food wasn’t the same.
During my visit at Salsitas I witnessed concerning behavior coming from staff.
None of the staff besides the male cook were wearing their face mask over their nose. One was not even wearing a face mask while handling food.
The girl at the cash register was dealing with money then would go and help the kitchen with orders and drinks without washing hands or wearing any type of gloves.
A family came in and ordered drinks. (They have a great selection on agua frescas) one of the drinks was piña colada. The employee handed the customer the drink and the drink started leaking/spilling all over the place. The plastic cup had a large crack on the side of it. Another worker takes back the drink and pours it back into the big piña colada container! I don’t know if they realize that the cup had a large slit and three different people touched that cup contaminating its contents. It appeared the customer realized it and asked for a different drink as they mixed the piña colada to serve it to her in another cup.
I get it, it’s a small joint. and I’m sure it’s easy to make connections or friendships with returning customers. But fist bumping from staff to customers? Three customers, within the hour I was there, walked over to the cook as he was preparing food w gloves on and fist bumped customers over the pixie glass.
The dining room had dirty tables.
There were flies on the ice cream display.
The shrimp cocktail was bland, would not order again.
The ceviche tostada was bomb with some mayo
The (5) tacos, amazing. Ordered chorizo and tripas
The Huarache was ok. it sucked that they had no forks or plastic knives only spoons.
Dinner was $44. But we had leftovers
After dinner we ordered fresas con crema with a scoop of ice cream.
They charges $3 for one SMALL scoop of ice cream. And it’s not even the good creamy kind. tasted icy. The fresas con crema was horrible!
Friend Got a Mangoniada (however you spell it) it tasted like straight up tapatio. It wasn’t even like a snow cone. Just a cylinder of ice. He said it was horrible and didn’t get over the first taste and he didn’t drink more. I actually got the reaction on camera after he tried it as I was trying to take a picture of my strawberries and cream.
For the strawberries and the mango drink plus the ice cream it was $18 something
Conclusion, if your health and safety is a concern, don’t come here. If you have a strong immune system and you want to risk it that is up to you. I would visit again. Would not get any dessert or aguas. Id just stick to tacos and a canned or bottled soda.
Only down is the area is crawling with junkies it’s hard to enjoy a meal when they are just hanging out in the building and parking area
